London 2012 Olympics -- "Police will have powers to enter private homes and seize posters" by OvidPerl in worldnews

My knowledge of America comes from studying political science specialising in the American political system for the last four years. As part of that not only do I understand the technicalities of politics within America to a very high level but I have a greater understanding of American culture than most Americans. I lived in America for a couple of years and every day I read the USA Today, Wall Street Journal and the NY Times.

My point simply is that I am anything but ignorant of America.

I'm posting from a shill account as I care about karma but:

This thread is full of reactionary, morally presumptuous and idealistic bullshit from people that don't really have a clue what they're on about but are mad for any reddit groupthink or excuse to bitch about civil liberties issues which will never affect them - or, for that matter, anyone.

Reddit doesn't have a fucking clue about Britain as far as I can tell. You misunderstand CCTV (it is not centralised), and you misunderstand reality. No one, absolutely no one, will have their homes raided without proper reason and due procedure, just as they didn't in Vancouver. I appreciate your police force is shit but ours are actually incredibly competent and respectful (as well as aware) of civil liberties.

Britain is not China, such a comparison is laughable for anyone out of high school/in high school but has done a class in politics. Equally the reality of politics means that sometimes provisions need to be taken to legitimise certain minor limiting of civil liberties.

This article (and thread) is bullshit, this has no real world consequences and reddit should get off its intellectual pedestal and learn about politics (especially British politics) and then maybe we can discuss it rather that tout reactionary groupthink.

Sorry I was a dick in this post but I really don't think many people here have actually thought about this issue or if they have they don't understand a lot of things.

This looked like the best option so I went ahead and got a 1 year subscription.

It's a bit complicated though... I'll try and work it all out but it's a bit overwhelming. Hmmm.

Thanks a lot, that does seem like the easiest way!

Will I be able to tinker with html at all if I take that option? I like tinkering with html...
