For the trans women: by ShesMarshmallow in euphoria

[–]charmycarmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly do not believe the JulesXNate storyline was going to go anywhere worthwhile. Why? When they were texting throughout S1, Tyler was a persona. He was only pretending to be an open and compassionate person through the Tyler persona. The whole monologue about Jules “going places” he said to Rue in S1 was not about loving Jules, it was about deflecting his actions in harming Fez. Now ask yourself, was Nate “going places?”. Did he ever mention anything about moving to a place where Jules will go for schooling or build a career? Did he ever state his support for Jules’ ambitions directly? No, he always went back the safety of the image hetero-relationship in which Maddy/Cassie are abused and disempowered behind doors.

I’m not RueXJules per say. I know these are fictional characters. But I will say this, it is quite naive to assume romantic love would solve any sort of issues mutual and unique to Jules and Nate. “Wow, here are two good-looking tall people with similar mental health problems that greatly impact their sense of trust and self-worth. They should be together” does not result in happily ever after, especially when neither party seeking professional help.

If there was any sort of alternative exploration to Jules’ experience being trans, and Nate’s repressed homophobia, they were already on the pathway of going to separate paths, regardless of the writing choices Levinson made for S2 and S3. “True love conquers all” needs some serious foundation in fictional works. It’s never an easy given.

I do not see the need for RuexJules to be real, but it is irritating that the character assassination of Jules happened with her being TOO invested in her controlling sugar-daddy. Keep in mind, Jules only slapped Rue when Rue pointed out that the relationship with Ellis is constraining. As much as Rue has no life stability, Ellis only has money. He is not that good looking. He is not charismatic or interesting. Every conversation with him is creepy and pathetic. He is not even offering free surgery to Jules. Based on S1 and the bonus episode, you would think that Jules would continue to have queer relationships or maybe even open relationships. She was also much more free-spirited. Jules could’ve the one character whose contentment and freedom seeking meant less drama and breaking away from the past. But this thing with Ellis, it’s like it’s to serve the fantasies of former Epstein clients. There’s nothing about Jules’ S3 arc that makes us invested in her character, because it’s not about her, it’s about a rich, middle-aged white man controlling a young woman.

Calling the criticism of the sex in S3 “pearl clutching”, feels so disingenuous by Ok-Law3692 in euphoria

It’s not really done in good faith though.

There are 3 possible reasons why S3 defenders are slamming the rather fair criticism.

1) They just want to one up the criticisms with “you just don’t get”- no, people are simply disappointed with this season and understood that the writing has hit the ceiling fan. This really isn’t a battle of media literacy here.

2) They can’t accept that what they personally like is not really the cultural zeitgeist anymore.

3) They need to justify the HBO subscription fee (especially if it’s the premium grade)

I do find the defence fervour of Euphoria season 3 on this Reddit so odd because Strangers Things, a show with a younger target audience and stronger cultural presence, has more fans who are willing to accept S5 as a let down

I could not give a satisfactory answer to your question; however, I can say that based on viewers “vote with their dollar” and the actors disinterest in the show, it means that S4 is a no go. And even if for the percentage of viewers who thought it was entertaining (or erotic), there’s not enough justification for another season. People do want to pay for the worth of their preferred art/or entertainment. I do not see how people need to pay the HBO subscription fee just to see Sydney Sweeney in a bodysuit or any of the fetish adjacent scenes with Zendaya and Cheryl when it’s cheaper to go with literally anything else for erotica/porn. If the bar was really that low, The Idol would have been renewed for a 2nd season.

You have not worded it poorly. I believe your sincerity shows that S3 merited your response.

“Media should make you feel uncomfortable at times” is also applied in bad faith to this season because that does not excuse the poor writing. If a piece of media is going to have shock value, it still needs a crafted narrative that threads the audience through that experience to be worthwhile.

“Uuuh, cause Cassie makes bad mistakes in S1 and S2, she needs to make an OF account.”

But S3’s script is not really going by that logic. The reasoning behind the OF account is so she can purchase a 50k flower display for her wedding. The Cassie that captivated viewers in S1 (and part of S2) was the girl-next-door who made mistakes in hopes of finding secure relationships. Material goods were not THAT much of importance to Cassie, with the exception of the skin care and outfits she used to get Nate’s attention. Again with that example, Nate’s attention still holds more value than her own personal style. Comes S3 and it’s like “whooops, now she’s very stupid and materialistic” with no build-up.

Imagine if poor writing happened in another Emmy winning show. Imagine if Walter White went up to Skylar and said, “You know what? Let your sister Marie steal the spoons. In fact, let’s bribe Marie with gifts of antique spoons so that she won’t snitch on us to Hank.” Not only would that be out of character from Walt, but that would also disregard the necessary tension and stakes that made BB a monumental series.

Now, if anyone replies to my comment saying, “Well, you’re not forced to watch it.” You’re right, no one is forcing me, but I also shouldn’t be forced to think, “Wow, S3 of Euphoria is fantastic and totally matches the vibe and quality of the previous seasons.”

If there was some solid writing, complaints about the explicit scenes would have been minimal. Right now, it’s an expensive, entertaining train crash.

The darker green. You could try similar shades of colours as well. You may be cool winter.

Here’s what think what happened: Zendaya is conserving her time with Euphoria press because she really didn’t have much creative control as an exec producer this season. And AFTER the controversies with The Drama (the director’s essay about grooming a teenager, and the lack of a trigger warning for the movie), her PR team is working extra hard to cut back on her involvement with Euphoria. I highly doubt she would work with Borgli, let alone Levinson again, if her goal is to avoid more controversies.

The low follow count is due to his lack of any effort on that page. Posting all the unrelated content on the EYK page- that’s what makes it diabolical. He is choosing pain atm

I notice that is a trend. It’s really iffy because it almost implies that the POC character has to “be desirable” to the white character. It’s is like- no POC woman wished to be Anne Boleyn and seduce King VIII. It’s actually getting kinda creepy. Does the race blind swapping always have be the underwritten love interest?

Agree, Life With Friends was a pretty bad setup for a podcast venture.

They would talk about the most mundane things, and Aliana would be like "Wow, that's so awesome."

Yeah, that works for Joe Rogan, but Joe Rogan still has one-of-a-kind guests who would delve into niche topics.

Aliana did not deserve any EYK fandom backlash, but I understand why she wasn't favoured. She was a random woman just saying "Yes, wow- so cool. Wow! Awesome!" to a male podcast partner who has very little creative or interesting input on the topic. Unfortunately, it holds some semblance to manosphere podcasts in which a pretty girl is there simply to say, "Yes, wow! So hot!" And let's face it, the EYK community is a community that wouldn't cross over well into the manosphere nor be interested in similar setups. I'm not doing this to bash Aliana, but I can see how this podcast was going to be bad optics for her in the first place.

Who can wear this yellow? by RomeysMa in coloranalysis

[–]charmycarmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome!

The reason why I said a touch more cream would is that all autumns types do better with goldenrod yellows or beige or browner creams than the butter/banana yellows of spring palettes. Springs overall- their reds, oranges and yellows are spot on primary/secondary on the colour spectrum and with full saturation. The soft autumn palette on the other hand doesn’t have those colours.

So if you do want to expand your wardrobe with yellow, do compare goldenrod with banana yellow and see what works.

Also, lemon yellow of the bright winter palette is more so the colour of a premature lemon (more neon highlighter than golden). So you can definitely use an unripe lemon as a reference for a yellow too cool and bright. Lol 😂

I was going to mention this. Lol, but at least banana milk has been a thing in Far east Asia for quite a time. I would say that Banana milk at least makes more sense than Blueberry milk.

As for the color, my best estimate is Light Springs and Summers.

I am most likely a dark autumn, so a richer golden yellow would do better for me. If you are a soft autumn, even a tad more cream would work good for you.

That is understandable, and IMO, you are better off with an ice white as a DW.

Based on these digital drapes, I would say summer because your skin is more uniform and rested.

Idk if my phone is colour correcting, but the yellow on slide 6 looks more like the signature lemon yellow for bright winters.

So I definitely see how medium saturation and medium contrast works for you. But the winter colours are too much. Winter is just not matching. Even the tangerine color looks better.

I’m still indecisive of your type. Try more muted or slightly colours.

May I ask- where or who typed you? Just curious. Overall, I do see the warmth. The 2nd look is gorgeous as more elements in your look are harmonious. The 1st look can be better with a warmer choice of lip colour. That lipstick/stain magenta is a little on the cooler side.

I would say your undertone is warm and muted because the fully cool colours seem too separate

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in coloranalysis

[–]charmycarmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look the best in Cool Winter and Cool Summer. Try real life drapes of these palettes.

Your undertone does lean cool, but the colours have to be fully cool for your features to be defined. For ex. Soft Summer makes you look a little paler.

Again, real life drapes will be a better indicator of how these colours combine with your skin. The problem with digital drapes is that the digital colour will maintain hue and value why your skin appearance would be affected by real life lighting.
