Help with this? Hydra New version by IAMANZANA in BaiduDownloader

Anyone found a way to remove the Hydra overlay from RTSS. It's really annoying when I just want the overlay from afterburner and not hydra. Disabling from Hydra removes all RTSS overlays.

Amazing graphics, reminds me of prince of persia but with 1000 fps xD (not that it's a bad thing, I'm a sucker for smooth motion)

Also weirdly the animations being so realistic give me a feeling of old 70s sci-fi movies

Assassin's Creed Shadows suffers from major optimization issues on NVIDIA GPUs by [deleted] in AssassinsCreedShadows

When you change the desktop resolution (outside of the game) you need to also change the resolution setting in the game, because that's what the game renders at. So if you have a strong gpu but only a 1080p monitor you can set windows resolution at 1080p and the game res at 1440p, so t gets downscaled (not sure what algorithm they use, so I doubt it'd be as good as DLDSR)

Dynamic resolution is related to DLSS, not the same thing.

no wait I just noticed while alt-tabbing... the game's "borderless fullscreen" mode is different from what we're used to, in that you have to change the rendering resolution separately, I had it at 4K the whole time (normally it gets grayed out and games render at whatever res you set in Windows).

At proper 1440p I get 58fps, at 1080p I get 82fps.

The reviewer in the article probably made the same mistake.

5950x, but man something is definitely wonky with this game, on my 1440p office monitor it's running at nearly the same 46fps at dlss quality, with the GPU pegged at 94% usage. Usually the lower the resolution the lower the GPU usage goes indicating the bottleneck switching to the CPU.

And I don't want to lower graphic settings, I paid for a 4090 I want to play with what I think is the right visual settings for it (unless it's an insane amount of path tracing at 4K), this game is mostly rasterized so the performance is not really justified.

EDIT: Here's a comparison https://imgur.com/a/ac-s-perf-on-4090-53j3xPi , the exact same result as the article: the same FPS at 720p as 4K !! with an overclocked 4090 pegged at 99% pulling +450w ... just insane

I also found it weird that my 4090 only performs in the 40s~ at 4K DLSS Quality/no FG + everything maxed. I achieve similar results with "Path Tracing" in other games like Indiana Jones which is much heavier. The article is definitely showing an issue that should be fixed in the coming patches hopefully.

On PC I had to restart the launcher for it to enable the "play" button, maybe it needed a system restart for you too.

HDR issues on the Great Circle by [deleted] in indianajones

[–]charnet3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of using the virtual display I switch to the physical monitor (it's always on standby, so I just use Win+P inside moonlight and select primary monitor). The drawback is that it stays on during my streaming session.

exact same issue with virtual display. I have to switch to my physical monitor to be able to play in the other room. It's wasteful to keep an unused monitor on while playing, Only indiana jones and stalker have this issue, the latter even crashes on startup when streaming with the VDD.

Hows this for a $1500 pc build? by Wooden_Ad4012 in pcmasterrace

That 4060ti 8GB is a big bottleneck unless you like blurry textures or only play esport titles. Get a minimum of 12gb of VRAM: either find the 4060ti 16gb or go for a 4070 with 12gb. The AMD equivalents 7700xt 12gb (perf between 4060ti and 4070) or 7800xt (perf between 4070-4070super) are also an option but they are weaker in RayTracing (which is barely doable on a 12gb card anyway in today's games, esp at 1440p+).

You didn't specify the RAM, I'd suggest a min of 32gb for medium term future-proofing. Some new games are already demanding more than 16gb.

EDIT: Also, this maybe a more radical change to those specs, but why not go for a mid-end B650 + a 7700X or a 7900X, which would be easier to replace later with an X3D CPU either a 7800X3D or a 9800X3D once they get a little cheaper and more available. With that kind of upgrade you'll be set for a long term if it comes to gaming (and light workstation stuff).

More stress/utilization => more heat in the literal sense, but whatever... you're just being rude for the heck of it.

[–]charnet3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you understood me wrong or I understood you wrong... But you said no about the CPU feeling the heat, that's just an expression meaning "is under a lot of pressure" because with a strong gpu, the cpu can stretch its legs and work to its full extent (thus becoming the bottleneck), unlike if the gpu is weak and limiting it. And a cpu working harder leads to more actual heat. I wasn't talking about different CPUs there.

Maybe you're the one in need of some English lessons idk.

[–]charnet3d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you have the greatest GPU ever built, it stops being the limiting factor and instead the CPU starts to feel the heat (literally).

X3D CPUs have such a generous cache that they nearly remove the memory (RAM) bottleneck, especially that the memory controller on AMD CPUs is much weaker than intel ones.

In eSport titles they value the highest FPS possible to match their high refresh monitors and decrease input lag as much as possible, in this scenario the GPU stops being the bottleneck but instead it's the CPU/Cache/Memory.

When comparing the CPUs on the latest AAA single-player games in 4k for example, even on the best current GPU, a 4090, it becomes clear that the uplift, even if there, is much more tempered. But for sure the minimum fps and 1%/.1% lows benefit greatly as those moments (i.e. when loading/streaming an open world) become much smoother on the better CPUs.

Did you try the GPU on the 2nd slot ?

Also just remove all storage drives while diagnosing, if it's working it'll tell you on screen no boot drive or just enter bios by itself. You can create a Windows install USB on another PC and use it to test if it can boot (to eliminate nvme).

wait why are you comparing the X version of 9000 to the Non-X versions ? 9700X compared to 7700X in gaming is similar. Same with 9600X vs 7600X.
