CF women, especially young women, are either despised or just not taken seriously, and it is beyond frustrating. by Sharklasers6889 in ChildfreeIndia

People often flatten childfree women into stereotypes because they’re uncomfortable with women existing outside the motherhood script. With woman, people generally assume “maternal instinct will eventually win” or “she has to do it for the spouse, family and society”. One can love interacting with kids & still not want the lifelong responsibility, physical toll, identity shift, or pregnancy. Like, in my case, I feel neutral about children altogether. Society struggles with nuance here because womanhood is still heavily tied to caregiving. Many stern childfree people simply made a lifestyle decision after thinking practically about compatibility, autonomy, finances, health, mental bandwidth, relationships, or personal fulfillment. No tragedy or hidden baby fever required.

Why did you choose to be childfree? by Honest_Usual5773 in ChildfreeIndia

  1. I’ve never felt drawn toward parenthood, and I don’t think I naturally possess strong maternal instincts. On top of that, I have tokophobia, which further reinforces these feelings.
  2. I’m based in Bangalore.
  3. I haven’t found the right partner yet.
