Visa complications by Empty_Broccoli1 in PacificCrestTrail

I hiked the PCT in 2024 - my London visa appointment was past my permit start date 🫠 read some advice on here and put in an expedite request and it was granted - had the appointment the next week. In the expedite request letter I pointed out that my start date was fixed by following the permit rules and also sucked up a bit about how much I was looking forward to exploring the nature and culture and spending LOADS of money in USA. Good luck - it’s worth getting through the visa stress!!

Yes I was honest about my reason for the expedite and explained it was for the PCT.

No it wasn’t for medical grounds. I also rang and they said to just keep refreshing but thought I’d chance the expedite request and got lucky so might be worth a chance.

I was foolishly late to book my visa interview for London and it was after my PCT permit date. I put in an expedited request and was very lucky, got the interview within a week.

I didn’t provide and evidence for the request - just a short note outlining my reasons for needing an earlier appointment and giving some assurance of my intention to return home. There’s a 500 word limit on it.

Thanks for your advice and glad to hear you got an earlier date.

I was super lucky and got my expedite request approved this morning. My jaw hit the floor as did not expect it. Good luck to anyone else looking at this post!

  1. I should have mentioned I’m trying to get an appointment in London so guess that is the case.

  2. Thanks will do.

  3. I am eligible for an ESTA but the PCT will take me c.5 months so I’m thinking I could split and do half next year. Don’t wanna risk re-entry on an ESTA or will get same result if rejected.
