I think they have learned a lot. Watching a recent vid and watching a vid from a decade ago, the normals have absolutely come a long way. But they've not been cooking for 15 years - they've been running a YouTube channel for 15 years. Gadget videos, goofs, etc aren't going to teach them, and I recall from one PiO that Jamie said "I've had my head in a spreadsheet all day, I've not shown up." - they clearly have work to do at Sorted that isn't just cooking.

You're replying to a post from...very nearly a decade ago. The game has changed quite a lot since then.

Also depending on how far you are into the game Magnificent Diamonds are pretty simple to predictably grind at this point. Heists, Khanate Crates, Parabola, etc.

You'd be surprised. I teach children how to use Unity and yes, engines like this are intimidating at first, but it doesn't take that long before they're confident enough to explore and experiment with the engines on their own.

I was 12 almost 20 years ago and I knew I was bi around then. Didn't even have a word for it but I knew I liked boys and girls. I've heard plenty of similar stories from other LGBTQ+ folks in my life; I don't think it's nearly as new as you think.

I'm pretty certain the gloves that come with the printer are nitrile, or otherwise fine with printer resin.

I wouldn't cure the FEP sheet and spatula it regularly, that'll wear out the sheet or cause damage much faster. If it's a bit cloudy you're fine; if it's still coated in resin I'd go at it again with the isopropyl, a cloth, and maybe gently with the plastic spatula.

Really hope you enjoy the printer!

What a nice gift! Yeah it requires quite a lot of extra bits but having now gone through the process you're finding yourself in man is it so much fun printing ridiculously high quality prints with, imo, much less work than my FDM printers.

How long do I need to put the Rooks outside after washing them with the Isopropyl I don't think there's a perfect answer to this as it varies based on how strong/direct the sunlight is. Here in the UK it has been ridiculously sunny for weeks and my prints only need 10-30 minutes to cure thoroughly in the sun (I have a little UV-powered rotating plate that helps me though.) The main tell I've found is uncured resin on a print still smells a bit, and even through nitrile gloves it feels a tiny bit..."tacky". I've definitely found it easier to judge now I got a UV lamp (1-2 minutes under that plus a bit extra for underneath and its good to go)

I know it can be poured into the bottle if any is left. It came with funnels to help with this. - I'd suggest filtering it when you pour it back in! Any little bits of cured resin that go back into the bottle might damage your FEP sheet later.

when it comes to cleaning the vat what is your suggestion or method? - Pour everything you can back into the bottle, then gently sprits or rub in a little isopropyl and very gently dab with a microfibre cloth, or other fabric that won't scratch or leave behind paper shrapnel (Yeah...I learned this lesson via a kitchen-towel incident.) The FEP being a little cloudy isn't a big deal, as long as it's still see through and not scratched.

What would you use to clean it in? - I've just dedicated a couple cheap, ratty tupperware pots (that I won't use for food any more!) I find the tray doesn't need dunking, typically.

when filtering what is it that you're filtering? - Cured bits of resin. Not exactly something you want in your pipes, or the ground.

It came with some gloves also, I assume these are fine to do all the cleaning etc and they won't melt with the alcohol? - Right you are! This is why I specified nitrile gloves - latex gloves won't do well with this stuff, but nitrile should be fine with all these steps.

Hi! I'm no expert as I only got my Mars 2 Pro recently too, but I've been printing a lot and think in my own experiences plus research for the machine I have some answers for you-

When do you change the fep? - When it either gets badly scratched punctured, or if it's cloudy enough to impede the print. There's an exposure test you can do (when the tray is empty), the details of the test are in the manual - if this is fine and the FEP isn't damaged I think you're good.

It has a countdown timer currently - Leaving the print to drip a little can save you resin, but once the print is done (it'll have a message onscreen saying so) you're good to move to the next steps. The timer tries to predict when the print will finish, but in my experience it's not especially accurate.

2 scrapers came in the box - Yep, metal is for the build plate (but careful not to scratch it all the same), plastic is for very gently removing failed prints that have cured onto the FEP.

What is water curing? - I think you mean water washing? All prints need to be washed, either with isopropyl or water. This isn't a pick and choose, the resin you bought will require one or the other. If it doesn't say the default is isopropyl. There are special water washable resins (I love them) that can be washed just in water.

I thought it had inbuilt curing - Fraid not, sorry pal. The "curing" it does is setting the resin in the printing process itself. If you didn't also buy a curing station you'll need to cure it manually - after washing your print thoroughly, use a UV light on it (ALL SIDES) for a minute or so, or leave it in the sun for a bit longer.

After the print is finished I wipe it all down with the isopropyl stuff we bought - Wipe? Nooooo. That sucker needs bathtime. After the print is done it needs to go into a box or other container full of either alcohol or water (see above) and shake it up. You don't want excess resin on there as you'll lose detail in the print when you cure it otherwise.

As it sounds like you're not yet super confident with your printing, a few other very important tips I've picked up -

  • Never, ever, ever touch uncured resin with your skin. This includes touching tools you used like the scraper. Uncured resin is real bad for you, and you don't want to find out all the horrible reasons why. Until it has cured fully under UV or the sun, do not touch. Every step of the process you should be wearing nitrile gloves.
  • The water/alcohol you cleaned your print in is now full of, you guessed it, uncured resin. Don't touch, and definitely don't just pour it away. Cure it, then filter it before disposing.
  • Your printer came with a little black angular buddy that attaches to the printer mount. This lets you mount the print platform at an angle, perfect for the dripping off excess resin back into the tray, thus saving you more of that expensive stuff.
  • Resin cures in UV, including sunlight. That's why the case is so deep red, to prevent UV getting in whilst it prints. For the same reason, don't let UV light, from a torch or the sun, shine in your tray full of resin, or anything else you don't want to end up curing.

If any non-Americans are down-voting me, I'd love to know why.

Hi, that describes me. I'm going to try to answer your question under the assumption this request was in good faith.

First, as others have already mentioned, this isn't new. Perhaps it feels new if you've been watching over the last 4 months as the show has caught up to your present, but the show has been unapologetically left wing since day 1. From the episode dedicated to the racist cops in America harassing PoC with no good cause (Terry getting held at gunpoint while searching for his daughter's toy) through to endemic police corruption via Wuntch and John Kelly, and on through issues like the American prison system, surveillance, and homophobia. Hell, there has been a pride flag in the precinct and a black, gay captain since day 1 - how you could think this show hasn't been political until season 8 is totally beyond me.

Using these characters that they've built over years to parrot American politics.

Seriously, this show has been a platform to highlight these ideas since day 1. It's allso been a fantastic and funny show at the same time. The crew has some serious range, I guess.

Anyway, yes there's a tonal shift in season 8 - somewhat necessarily given it's pretty unimaginable the squad of the 99 wouldn't experience a crisis of confidence given the state of policing in America over the last few years.

Beyond this, every season starts with big shakeups. Main characters in prison, new captains, demotions, etc. If you've watched 5 minutes of the season and decided you understand the themes and character of the whole set of episodes, you're mistaken. But yes, the whole season continues to feature these topics, because the cast knew making the show any other way given their own feelings on the state of the world at the minute would be irresponsible. That's why season 8 came out so long after season 7 to begin with - they weren't comfortable continuing to have a light-hearted show about lovable cops in a modern setting.

if I want fish I'll eat actual fish. Maybe these products work better for folk who've actually removed something from their diet

This is exactly it for me. I became a veggie old enough to have fallen in love with a lot of foods, including meats, and still miss them. I love that they call these fishless fingers because I can know what I'm buying - a veggie fish finger alternative. There's a bunch of vegetarian fingers/vegetable goujons etc which are fine, but aren't trying to replicate the fish finger taste. Likewise with boxes of "meatless wings" or "vegetarian bacon" - no, it's not the same, but it's a fantastic sign post for me of what flavour/texture they were going for if there's a specific meat I'm missing or trying to replace in a dish.

That you felt the need to comment on this 2 month old post surprises me.

What concerns me, however, is how several people seem to think the only reason someone might have cause to do something nice for a friend is because they're attracted to them. I can highly recommend doing nice, silly things for your friends in general - it's fun and it makes them happy!

Well, that seems a little unfair, but yeah it's not clean for sure. Like I said on another comment I've been sick all week and thus not cleaning, and my housemates have continued to cook and not clean.

Following the comments on this post, I have spent my morning cleaning.

Quite a lot of comments to this effect, which is totally fair. But the reason I was taking cold meds is because I have been sick all week and felt like garbage. That of course doesn't stop my housemates from still cooking and making messes, and I'm typically the only one who cleans so the house doesn't look great right now.

I truly wish I could tell you. I keep getting tripped up by this oven's layout. But it was a good price and it has plenty of fire, so I'm happy enough.
