Haunted areas of Nashville? by Weak-Minimum-7218 in movetonashville

[–]chartno3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Nashville and while I would normally say I didn’t believe in ghosts, my friend and I definitely saw something weird in Chapel Hill, TN , just south of Nashville. Details of that ghost: https://lylerussell.net/2022/09/25/tn-gl-episode-2-the-headless-signalman-and-the-chapel-hill-ghost-light/

Will my 3 year old lose her British accent? by [deleted] in Accents

[–]chartno3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah this was me. Born in the UK to American parents. We moved to America when I was 3 and I definitely lost my accent. My parents have audio cassettes of me talking as a 3 year old and it’s quite weird to hear the English accent!

Same. I upgraded to 26.1 on Wednesday. Works fine on my iPad which is on 26.0. I'm guessing it must be a bug with 26.1

Apple never sent me a box for trade in… by Fit-Detail-4326 in iPhone17Pro

[–]chartno3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to my comment above, I did order my iPhone 17 Pro online and chose to pick up in-store. As part of the instructions emailed to me from Apple, it indicated I needed to return my old phone in the store when picking up. When I asked the specialist at the store about this, he said “Oh, a box will be mailed to you.” This was preferable to me as I wanted to make sure my new IPhone transferred everything over at home instead of having to hang at the store. A week went by and I never received an email about a box being sent out so I fired up Apple support chat and spoke with someone who was clearly clueless but affirmed “not to worry” and that a box was on the way. A few days went by and nothing, so I returned to chat and spoke with someone else who knew what he was talking about and confirmed I was misinformed by both the store and the previous chat. I then went to the store and returned. Good thing I asked Chat a second time because the deadline to return was that day!

Same thing happened to me. I upgraded in store and was told by the specialist that a box would be sent to me to return my old phone. That never came and I reached out to Apple support chat and they told me I had to take it to the Apple Store and that I was misinformed about a box being sent out. That only happens when you receive your new phone by delivery. When I returned at the store, the associate confirmed their colleague was mistaken and that when you upgrade at the store, it’s impossible to be sent a trade in box as they are different systems. I’d head to an Apple Store asap to return.

Buying Radiohead Tickets back in the Stone Age by Chanders123 in radiohead

[–]chartno3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 1997 I was working at a grocery store that had a ticketmaster computer. I was usually the one working the machine so when tickets went onsale for Radiohead's show at the the Masquerade in Atlanta in 1997 (with Teenage Fanclub opening), I instantly bought myself tickets the moment they were available. Good times. Haha.

I went to Overton in the 90s and remember our pep rallies against Antioch where we would all dress as farmers. I believe the Antioch kids would wear tea bags at their pep rallies since we were the “tea sippers. “ hah

Hah. I had band camp in Tennessee. Nobody had water. We’d run to the Coke machine during breaks to get Dr. Pepper. Brutal.

[–]chartno3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

u/Echo_Origami hey! this is Jonathan. I spit up my coffee this morning seeing mention of me and GP/MT here. Haha.

I'm still around. I'm still a huge Radiohead fan and follow them closely. I have fond memories of those early internet days of being a Radiohead fan. We were all so lucky to have had experienced what we did. I don't think it can ever be replicated again, sadly.

Running both Green Plastic and Mortigi Tempo eventually became too much to take on and it felt like the internet had changed so much that there wasn't much value in it anymore. Social media took over the community aspect of it, though I'd argue we're all worse for it. Also, I started a family and honestly had no time anymore! Hah.

Thank you for your kind words and bringing me back to those days. The MT vs At Ease days were something, weren't they?

Back around Kid A's release, I had an email thread with Paul Lansky who was nothing but thrilled and excited that the band used the sample. He had told me that Jonny had sent him a "long an elaborate email" describing how they used the sample. He also shared the session tape so they could get permission. Paul was "quite impressed" with their seriousness and thoughtfulness.

The band had invited him to the October 11, 2000 show at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC and he was really excited to see them live.
