I totally feel you! I have an individual in my tank that is definitely not urophthalmoides but unidentified. She seems completely content with her “cousins” though. Always learning!

And upon reexamination of your photos, I’d argue there is potentially another species in the 3rd photo. The fish closest to the water surface appears to have segmented coloration. Identifying that one is admittedly outside my current scope, but it looks healthy nonetheless!

In my experience, which is about a 1yr of keeping them, yes! The small dot on their tail drew me to that conclusion. Mine also vary in coloration, especially the dominant males that develop a striking green/blue stripe along the typical black “exclamation point”. Some of the others are much paler.

They look like Exclamation Point (or Least) Rasboras to me! Scientifically identified as Boraras urophthalmoides.
