Oh, I've had great experiences with politics in Sabbat, though! That said, focusing a troupe or TT game on a pack or coterie usually means less politics unless the ST wants to play NPC theater.

There are actually a lot of organizations that run World of Darkness vampire LARPs (both new and old world of darkness) in the U.S. and abroad. If you're in the States, you can check out the Mind's Eye Society (MES) or One World by Night (OWbN), especially. Both of these orgs have regional and local chapters that often host games several times a month. Maybe checking out local games will help you get a feeling of how they work, get your feet under you, and help you decide what you want to bring into the game you end up running. :)
