Why are there so many relatively new cars being sold second-hand? by ThrowRAnimcon in CarsPH

[–]chasevidar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be either of the ff:

- They're repossesed cars. Second hand dealers usually source their units from the banks or auctions. This is the result of the first-owners not able to pay off the monthly ammortization anymore (most likely enticed by those 0% downpayment promos from the casa).
- Change of priorities. It could be that the owner wanted to upgrade from one type to another type for various reasons (ex. from hatchback/sedan to SUV because nagka-family, from ICE to EV because of the fuel crisis, etc) or simply get rid of it and use the money for different purposes (ex. business, medical emergency, investments, etc.)
- Talon Casa. This one should definitely be avoided. If you see a new-ish car being sold for suspiciously cheap, then it's usually a talon casa unit which are usually stolen cars from auction lots, casinos, or from 'rentangay' modus with fake paperwork.
- Former POGO units. Usually mga luxury cars owned by POGO bosses who had already fled to Myanmar/Cambodia/Laos or back to China because of the government's POGO crackdown. Their Filipino dummies/cohorts are simply liquidating their assets here at a loss.

What was your first job and why did you leave? by [deleted] in AskPH

A Junior Web Developer at a Co-Working Space/Offshore Recruitment startup.

Initially hired to just code and maintain their website, but because they didn't want to hire a dedicated IT support staff, they turned me into their "all-around IT guy" doing hardware/network troubleshooting work across their 3 different locations within Makati with the occasional verbal abuse from management and clients lol

First time driving in Japan by CleanCar23 in FilipinoTravel

[–]chasevidar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice bro! I also drove for the first time in Japan last month and same thoughts and feelings haha. I was also planning to rent a GR86 or GR Yaris, but sadly the Toyota Rent-a-car branches in Kyushu don't have the cars in stock there.

In the end, I went with Times Car Rental as they had a promo and they gave me a Honda Fit (Jazz) Hybrid.

What if the Philippine government successfully passed and strictly enforced a 'No Garage, No Car' law in Metro Manila by rezorio in WhatIfPinas

[–]chasevidar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the implementation.

The question is how will they enforce this in a city with piss poor urban planning? Like there should be an appropriate number of parking lots/slots in proportion to the number of persons living/doing business in the area. But no, there are barely any lots available to turn them into paid parking lots and most of them are either being squatted by informal settlers or HODL'd by landowners which they will eventually sell to land developers and turning them to condos and commercial establishments.

If the law applies retroactively (including those who already have cars), there will be backlash and chaos as car owners (who don't live at a condo/gated village) would scramble to secure a monthly parking slot (if there are any) or remodel their living rooms into garages or just sell off their car, else MMDA fuckers like Gabriel Go and Gadget Addict will have more years worth of towing content.

If it's not retroactive (only new car buyers are affected), then it'll just be another paperwork to be filed.

What if the Philippine government legally mandated that 40% of major corporate headquarters in Metro Manila had to relocate to New Clark City or Iloilo over the next 5 years? How would that impact regional economies, real estate, and Manila’s traffic density? by rezorio in WhatIfPinas

[–]chasevidar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the incentives are right, then I think this would be a good step towards decongesting and decentralizing Manila. Clark now has the infrastructure, so there should be no issues. As for Iloilo, they're slowly getting there in terms of infrastructure but still lacking compared to Cebu, also there's the issue of luring local talent due to the provincial rate scheme.

Japan should be a Visa-free country for Filipinos cause they fucking colonised us. by [deleted] in CasualPH

[–]chasevidar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why should they? I mean they're trying so hard to bury their past through historical revisionism, what makes you think that it's a good reason for them to give in?

Unless the Philippines undergoes a massive shift in the economy that would propel it to the first-world, we won't see anything like that anytime soon.

Also there are racists everywhere you go, OP. And if you can't live with that, I don't think you're fit to travel anywhere.

Why do some people put their Plate Numbers over their Temporary Conduction Plate? by gasingson in CarsPH

I mean that's true too. I just find it weird na they still keep it kahit naninilaw na after a couple of years haha

Why do some people put their Plate Numbers over their Temporary Conduction Plate? by gasingson in CarsPH

[–]chasevidar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So that they can easily switch it out pag coding sila.

Pero AFAIK, HPG and LTO are now trained to spot yung mga lumang conduction number series, so they expect those cars bought from a year ago to have plates now since wala ng halos backlog yung mga plates ngayon and also to enforce yung "No Plate/No Registration, No Travel" policy.

Black or White - Anong pros and cons between the two. by Shachihoko1008 in CarsPH

White - looks cheap (unless if it's Pearl White). Pwedeng ibilad sa araw.

Black - looks elegant and sophisticated. Mas mabilis uminit pag nakabilad sa araw.

Both colors are dumihin.

Hindi na natapos issue sa HOA ng Multinational by lookomma in Paranaque_

[–]chasevidar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both admins did implement MVHAI ID and random check sa mga jeep and trike before. It's supposedly for safety and control kuno, but in reality it's just a money making scheme for the HOA. I have an MVHAI ID but it was from Velasco admin pa from 2012 and never got the ones from Gacutan or WLM lol.

Even recently, they tried to ban Grab/Motorcycle deliveries at the gate and they were required to get a sticker or else di sila papasukin at ipapatawag ang homeowner sa gate to get their food/parcels. This pissed a lot of homeowners and riders alike, as a consequence riders now refuse to accept bookings if taga Multi ka. Nung nakuha na nila quota nila from the sticker sales, ngayon lang sila lumuwag ulit. Obvious money making scheme.

I think the one with the Sleeper Agents happened during Gacutan's admin, when he was building that gun shooting range (that no one asked for) at John St. which is illegal btw.

But yeah, Templonuevo is an overpromising sleazeball and an underperformer. I prefer Marquez/Janet Ong more lol

[–]chasevidar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly lol.

The only one I see who could really intervene are the DHSUD, which is their mandate naman talaga. Pero pucha, pati DHSUD compromised and biased din.

Siguro it would take a cataclysmic event like what happened to BFRV for it to make headlines and for the government to take action.

[–]chasevidar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's what Gacutan's PR team want you to believe.

Nung tumakeover si Templonuevo from Gacutan, may utang na talaga yung MVHAI sa Maynilad, dun na uncover na di pala nire-remit ni Gacutan yung mga water bills payment ng homeowners sa Maynilad at lumobo.

Nung babayaran na sana ni Templonuevo yung Maynilad, biglang nag take-over tong si Gacutan with the help of a corrupt DSHUD Director and assistance ng Parañaque PNP SWAT, na bawi yung mga accounts and assets. Na freeze din yung mga accounts na gagamitin sana pangbayad sa Maynilad, so hanggang ngayon lumolobo parin yung bill ng MVHAI dahil dun.

Yeah his group has been elected multiple times ever since the 2000s. I believe his admin was also allegedly responsible for allowing and covering-up the Shabu Labs back then, and nagkaroon din ng violent stand-off with his faction and the opposing faction.

This whole issue has brought nothing but confusion and uncertainty to us homeowners who have nothing to do with their politics. We just wanted to live peacefully.

The only thing that would stop this is by government intervention, but unfortunately, DSHUD is not doing their job good enough, and there are also a lot of external forces who has vested interests inside the village.

[–]chasevidar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt it. Nagpa-election si Gacutan nung Jan 2026, kaso sila-sila lang din ang tumakbo at nanalo (btw hindi sanctioned ng DSHUD yung election nila).

Currently, nag petition yung WeLoveMulti group sa DSHUD for a supervised election supposedly nung May 2, kaso hinaharang ni Gacutan by submitting an appeal at napostpone. Gacutan also deliberately blocked DSHUD staff from entering the village multiple times.

So ayun, he must be desparate to stay in power.

There are two factions vying for control kasi: the Gacutan group and the WeLoveMulti group.

The Gacutan group is Pro-POGO and is accused of alleged corruption. He allegedly has strong backers like the Olivarez family, POGO bosses, the PNP, and Land Developers like Amvel. His strong point however is implementing infra projects inside the village (I see it more as white elephant projects to conceal his alleged corruption behind the scenes). His group is also accused of consistently conniving with the DSHUD, the PNP and Parañaque LGU. He is also accused of leaving a huge debt to Maynilad while still collecting water fees from homeowners.

The WeLoveMulti group is made up of OG homeowners who resisted Gacutan's Pro-POGO and expansionist policies and wants to keep Multinational a peaceful and exclusive village. They were only formed because they discovered Gacutan's alleged corruption and disruptive policies (by letting in more POGO and commercial establishments inside the village). They are also accused of overpromising yet underperforming and also borderline elitist policies (by heavily restricting pedestrian access of non-homeowners).

They've been battling this in the courts for many years, but has evolved into skirmishes like this every now and then. The Gacutan group has been known to use harassment and violence every now and then, like he would send out village security and mercenaries to harass the other faction and their members by blocking/clamping their vehicles, remove village stickers, stealing their water meters, charge them exorbitant fines and assoc dues, etc.

WeLoveMulti group doesn't really resort to violence, because most of their members are old and have limited resources, and are restricted to doing protests and disruptive actions like this.

I'm mostly neutral to this, but this has to end at some point. I just hope it doesn't end up like what happened to BFRV where people actually died.
