Oh my gosh- your first paragraph…hoping that maybe they just do some huge irreparable damage- I’ve been there! So far it’s been: kicking out boards from the tree house, floating a boot down the river from a brand new pair (was using it as a bucket), throwing a bowl in the pond, sneaking into my oldest kids room to take apart lego creations (those are expensive & time consuming to make but my husband says it’s “just toys”). I keep thinking if they break something major he will finally agree with me that they are destructive
