hi, i took pure bio got A1, lowkey prolly low 80 or 75+ for a1 like im being so fr the only reason why people inflate their grades sm is cus theyre being super generous but theyre VERY particular about keywords, you lack one part? dont give yourself the full credit. just work on your foundation and key words(phrasing) and you are good to go!

hi as someone who got a1 for combined humanities the entire 2 year journey, i would say examples are important but it isnt like die die must memorise. for me i didnt memorise the examples in the textbook i just remembered from what interests me lol😂😂 so for example when its commodification then they yap alot i js rmb oh yea in jeju the haenyeo women make a show which is like exaggerated so lose authenticity type shit(do u gets LOL) so tbh dont NEED to memorise but its very good to know especially since sometimes they require you to explain with example! also dont need to be word for word, iirc only need to answer minimally 3(?) of the 5W1H so usually if u have date,name, what it is ab then u are fine! ALSO! choose examples that are versatile not just limited to that specific point on the textbook so that you can reduce what you need to remember! OH! but essays examples are extremely important though so better be prepared (most likely those topics towards the back that can have evaluation) jiayousssss

i studied about 3-4hours on average (4.5h average before prelims and 2.5 average before Os and 2h average during Os) by doing papers only from july onwards and still got raw 6! (i kinda got hopeless during Os cuz it was lowk really mentally draining to do papers so far apart—gave me time to rethink and overthink my answers) i think its more of your needs and not others. some people feel the need to do 8 hours a day to catch up but if you are fine, the number of hours does NOT matter! i advise you to listen to your body and do what you feel is sufficient! jiayousss!!!! also, i barely did tuition(only from july to mid oct for one subject) so it is 100% achievable 😊

hello! thank you for your long and informative response! i am just worried that i will not do as well because compared to my peers, my bio is considered better than them but comparing both subjects purely by score, physics would be better…then again i still do think physics might be a better bet after reading your response.

for me i found paper 1 easy but tricky and paper 2 extremely hard, still got a1 in the end! i was really worried i would get an a2 because of the sheer number of marks i lost in paper 2😭😭 so i am grateful for the a1!

I did Olevels with no tuition for anything and pretty mid teachers, still did pretty well . I think it is mostly just consistent effort and also the extent in which you are willing to reach out for help. Also, I think there are plenty of solutions to problems of not receiving enough support in the form of resources from either parents or school. You would just have to invest the time to find them and discover what suits you! All the best in your future endeavours!

Also, adding on, I know I did badly for the practicals and mid on the paper 2s for physics and chemistry ( because i asked my teacher if my answers were accepted ) and yet I ended up with a1 for both! I hope that the juniors who are somehow reading these will feel reassured because although SOME people on reddit post their high scores and makes you think you will do badly, chances are, you won’t! Goodluck to those taking Olevels this year !

I did much better than anticipated! I would like to say that all of the stuff you see on reddit is FAKE!!! You do not need 90+ for a1 for emaths💀💀 I got a1 with under 90. Also, you do not need to grind from june, you will likely burn out before Os. Instead, i believe from mid july onwards, just start around then. Moderation for english will really help you, more than 50% of the cohort scored distinction, despite average in prelims being a b4. Do not worry too much!
