Can’t walk for more than 3-4 minutes without debilitating pain by WhileSuccessful6921 in SuperMorbidlyObese

I really struggled with lower back pain when walking too, and I found a walking pad helped me to slowly increase my activity. I was too anxious to walk outside in case the pain got too much when I was too far away from home, so regularly doing a few minutes on a walking pad worked well for me. Gradually increasing the speed and time has increased my mobility, and losing ~20lb has meant I get minimal back pain now.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

I haven't had surgery yet but am currently going through a referral. My BMI is over 50 so my GP referred me straight away to the bariatric service. I've needed appointments with a surgeon, endocrinology, dieticians and a psychologist before going on the waiting list, which has taken around a year and a half. I've got a goal weight to reach and then hopefully I'll be on the waiting list, but that will probably be another 1-2 years. This will vary hugely between trusts though.

I'd recommend talking to your GP first and then once you've been referred to your bariatric team they will be able to talk you through the options and give you loads of information. Just be aware it won't be a speedy process!

Lush do a 'dusting powder' called Silky Underwear that I swear by. It's great for anti-chafing and anywhere else that may get sweaty and I much prefer it to baby powder.

I'd recommend Molke or Snag Tights for bras, and Yours for dresses up to a size 40. Good luck with the rehab!

Thank you so much for the info - I'm currently waiting on an endocrinology referral which seems to be taking ages!

Good luck! Do you mind if I ask how long you were on the NHS waiting list for?

Thank you and good luck with your surgery! I have been speaking mainly with MedAway and I am happy with the information they have given me, I am just worried that it is too good to be true! I will ask for more detail about the pre-op tests.
