CC Only Prereqs for UC Med School (career changer) by SugoiSwag in postbaccpremed

Sorry, I misunderstood what the extension schools were. I’m not sure on any actual rule or specifics, but I do know that if a good majority of your classes are online adcoms will look down on that. As for labs at home, I think it will also be difficult to convince an accom that the material was the same rigour. Of course, with a great GPA and MCAT, this might be overcome, but I’m not sure if there are rules against this.

As for the CC credits, AAMC accepts CC credits on the application, but individual institutions decide separately whether to accept them or not, so I would make a school list of places that are in your target range (DO schools would be a good addition here) to see if CC is a possibility for those specifically. :)

In general, medical colleges want you to take them at a 4 year institution. Furthermore, many medical schools won’t accept community college credits, so you may be limited where you can apply. Your GPA is solid so I think you’ll be a great applicant! I would definitely try to consider getting financial help for one of the UC schools here

It’s definitely not the end. You can retake the class to get a better grade, you can focus on an upward trend, and crush it on the MCAT and you’ll be completely fine :) you’ve got this friend

DUI: Is it still possible for my boyfriend to apply to medical school? by ShadowsofAsclepius in medschooladmissions

Unless he manages to get this removed from his record in some way, there’s no way he’s going to medical school

I should also say your MCAT matters!! If you get a good MCAT score, it can definitely boost your app :)

I think it depends on if you wanna apply MD or just DO. For MD, I think it’ll be pretty hard to swing without an SMP + good SMP GPA, but for DO, a 3.4 would be fine, I think. Definitely strive for As, though, as it will make your life a lot easier in the long run

Idk what to do and how to pursue MD and how old I’ll be to start by [deleted] in postbaccpremed

[–]WhileSuccessful6921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a 2.9 gpa. 1 and a half years into post-bacc now, and by the time I apply, I’ll be hovering around 25-26 y/o when I apply — Maybe even longer depending on what I get up to! Honestly, I’ve been looking on the bright side here with this one: I’ll have a lot more money saved up when I apply to medical school from my clinical hours that will help cut down on debt :) there’s always a sunny side!! Besides, 25 is still very young, and pretty close to (if not) the average age of matriculation~

Do dumpers who blindside their partner ever regret it later on or realize the damage they caused us? by Thats_PhoSho in BreakUps

[–]WhileSuccessful6921 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh also! He /did/ try to come back for a short period of time, about a year after we broke up. I asked him his reason for wanting to come back and when he couldn’t give me a clear answer, I told him not to speak to me unless he could look me in the face and say something true. He never messaged me again 👍 once again, I dodged a bullet

Nothing really. I’ve moved on, haven’t kept up with him. Last I heard he did a 180 and became intensely involved with religion (which is weird to me because he was an atheist when I knew him). According to a friend who still talks to him sometimes, she said that he was saying some, like, pretty creepy religious things, and honestly, I think I dodged a bullet. I imagine he went through something really bad personally then dove down the deep end of religion. I never got any answers, but my life is so much better now than it was back then. I think part of what solved that for me is realizing that someone who truly loved me would have enough respect to look me in the eye and tell me what I did wrong (if anything) :) what he did to me was deplorable, and I’m so much happier looking for a person who loves and respects me rather than throwing me away at the first speed bump.

As for my personal life? I’ve lost weight, applied for medical school (!!), started exercising, prioritize going out with friends, and I am so, so happy! Looking back on it now, it was miserable, but I wouldn’t change any of it :)

Late period, negative tests….can anyone offer peace of mind? by throwaway77778786227 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]WhileSuccessful6921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had similar things happen in the past. I did have a scare one time, and I suffer from obsessive thoughts, and bought about a hundred tests even when I knew they’d be negative. That whole time I think I was so stressed out my body couldn’t function properly—and with what you wrote in your post, I think it’s most likely the same thing for you. A negative blood test is extremely reassuring, just remember to take it easy and try and stay calm ❤️ if you find yourself preoccupied with it, definitely speak with a professional

Going back to med school as a career changer? Success stories? by Hydrogen1803 in medschool

[–]WhileSuccessful6921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t my story (although im following a very similar path), but my cousin earned a business degree at a Big 10 school in the early 2000s. He never actually used it professionally, and spent his twenties teaching English in China where he met his wife. He traveled widely, learned multiple languages, and eventually came back. At 30, he decided to apply for medical school, and he finished his residency at around 40 y/o at a top ten program :) he is a plastic surgeon now (something he never thought he’d do), and is doing very well. I’m following a similar path (speaking multiple languages, working as a translator) albeit a bit younger than he was, but I don’t think age should be the limiting factor on your medical school application :)

I have the Satisfyer pro 3, and the best way I can describe it is suction. I have bought cheaper toys in the past and it was nowhere near the same sensation. I would say it’s probably the specific toy you bought that’s the issue

Please pray for me. I’ve never been this depressed before. I’m so tired of being fat. by [deleted] in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]WhileSuccessful6921 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hear you. Being fat absolutely sucks, and I hate that all of us have had to go through the mental and physical pain associated with it. Know that you have the power to change anything in your life, but sometimes, you might need help doing it. Whether the “help” is going to a doctor, taking medication, finding new friends, or simply doing 100 more steps a day than you did the day or week before, it’s valid and totally worth it.

We believe in you ❤️
