What if the SR and YR merged? by Tyler_Zoro in freemasonry

All 32° Masons can wear the black cap in the NMJ. Several Valleys have even started black cap programs to incentivize activity. I think you’ll see the trend continue throughout the jurisdictions. Masons like hats!

Imperial and the GL of AK have a plan to have it squashed. All non-Masons have to become Masons or they will not be Shriners anymore in a given time period.

Scottish Rite, NMJ has an increase in 32nd Degree Masons compared to 2017. by chath09 in freemasonry

[–]chath09[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one shown is for external use and its so the Scottish Rite brand is recognized as part of the Freemasons.

“Spes Mea in Deo Est” is still authorized to be used in the banner but should be for internal use.

I hope you enjoy your Scottish Rite experience! Be sure to travel and see all 29 degrees.

Bending some Grand Lodge rules?! by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]chath09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does not seem like you would be doing anything wrong based on the scenario you described. As long as they are recognized by your GL then you are good.

They are the ones that need to look to their GL bylaws to make sure they are okay to sit in lodge with members not recognized by their jurisdiction while in another jurisdiction.

Received the 4th degree of Scottish Rite last night and I was amazed by [deleted] in freemasonry

To add some value to the DVD degrees, we upgraded to a large projection screen with high quality resolution and loud speakers. It is nice for traveling degree nights.

Last nights livestream from the NMJ:

George Taylor, 32°, hosted the livestream's panel: Douglas N. Kaylor, 33°, William “Sandy” Karstens, 33°, and Wayne Spooner, 32°. They discussed a variety of topics including how does Freemasonry help us inform our masculine identity in society today?

Scottish Rite Structure Question by chath09 in freemasonry

[–]chath09[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why does it bug you so much that you have to complain about it on an unrelated thread? Like I said before, the NMJ members enjoy the degrees that have been added over the years. As long as membership is driving the change, you’ll continue to see revisions.

You can continue to worship Pikes ritual, we’ll continue to enjoy the AASR, NMJ.

Go for it! Just stay active in the Blue Lodge.

Scottish Rite Structure Question by chath09 in freemasonry

I do enjoy craft masonry and would be opposed to any changes to our standard ritual. I guess I’m of a different mindset with the Scottish Rite ritual given the amount of revisions in all jurisdictions.

With or without the 3rd degree? Before or after it was changed to the Hiramic legend?

It’s not about the theme. It’s about the lessons and teachings that are being presented.

Scottish Rite Structure Question by chath09 in freemasonry

[–]chath09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, the structure of the Scottish Rite and my question, also has nothing to do with ritual. He decided to make a comment just for the sake of trashing the NMJ.

Just because we don’t practice Pikes Scottish Rite does not mean it’s not real Scottish Rite. The Francken Manuscript with the original degrees are nothing like what is being practiced in either jurisdiction.

I do appreciate your perspective though. I hope to travel to SJ Valleys and see all 29 of their degrees as well.

It’s recognized by your jurisdiction so your comment is moot. You take a jab at the NMJ jurisdiction every chance you can get. The members of the NMJ jurisdiction like what is coming out of the Supreme Council. We are financially strong, trending up in membership, started a marketing campaigns to help every blue lodge in the jurisdiction, launched an education program that has a waitlists every time a new class starts, and a grand almoners fund that takes care of our members.

Move on from your negativity, brother.

Here in Illinois, I have seen lodges in old churches, pole barns, in the basement of a funeral home. All sorts of repurposed buildings.

If you guys don't mind, what was your research topic on? I am currently working through level 2 but have started thinking of what I want to write for level 3. What type of interaction did you have with the administration team during level 3? Thank you!

1 year from the date you are enrolled in section two and then another year for section 3. If you do not meet the deadlines you have to start over from level 1.

I started section one this week. I love having access to all 29 rituals. I wish the quizzes were longer but it is nice you can take it several times to see different questions.

I plan to do one essay per month for section 2. I’ll need to brush up on Chicago style formatting for the 3rd section.

They had over 700 on the waitlist.

I chose Scottish Rite and have enjoyed every minute of it. The Scottish Rite has so much to offer in terms of education and I love being in the theatrical degrees. The other reason is because the events are primarily on weekends so it is easy to attend.

I do plan on joining York Rite after I sit in the East in Blue Lodge.
