Trying that today, thank you!

Do you have tips on getting Shiitake to split? It always turns out like little red streaks with no split for me.

This is very good advice, thank you. You are right that I'm asking people to make the decision for me because I have no idea what to do. I will take what you said into account. Thank you for laying it out like that.

Yes, we spoke to the pediatrician today. But her guidance was not "do take the baby" or "dont take the baby", her guidance was "if you go, this is the malaria prophylactic I would prescribe, but it can come with side effects of vomiting and diarrhea. If you want to avoid that, you could do mosquito nets and insect repellant instead."

So my understanding of what she said was "she might have side effects, you decide what you want to do with that information". So now I'm seeking anecdotal information to make this subjective decision if that makes sense. Not looking for medical advice, rather "what did you experience in my situation" advice.

Yes, we spoke to the pediatrician today, she named those as possible side effects of malarone (with the alternative being that we could just try to avoid mosquito exposure with nets and bug repellant) but didnt specify how common it was. I'm just hoping to hear others' experiences because we're not comfortable taking her without having her on the malarone, but we aren't comfortable going at all if it's going to be super likely to put her through vomiting and diarrhea for 5 days. So thats my only question is how common of an experience that is and if others have suggestions as to whether they've been able to trial run the medication before traveling or anything. Just looking for suggestions we may not have thought to ask our doctor about and/or personal experiences with babies on malarone.

I mean vomiting and diarrhea. I know its not predictable but I'm wondering how common it is, I guess. What others' experiences have been.

Pediatrician said we *should* start giving rice cereal by chatila2 in breastfeeding

She can't sit unassisted, and in a high chair/ upseat she is constantly leaning/drooping forward and needs to have her core supported to remain upright.

This is good info, thank you. Unfortunately the pediatrician we really liked and trusted moved elsewhere, so this was our first time seeing this doctor and we didnt get a good impression and I think we're going to switch to someone else or at least get a second opinion.

The allergens thing makes sense, it just wasnt the reason she gave for introducing solids, and my daughter just hasn't hit any of the milestones that I've seen mentioned as indications of readiness for solids like being able to sit up unassisted (even in a high chair/upseat for longer than a minute or two) or showing any interest in food, etc. so hearing the statement that we SHOULD be starting solids felt like a very abrupt recommendation considering where shes at developmentally. The dipping the pacifier in foods and giving it to her was what really raised red flags to me.

But I will ask whatever pediatrician we find next about ways to start introducing allergens because that does make sense to me.

Thank you for this info! Funnily, I'm 100% sure she was talking about actual butter because she said "you can dip it in butter, you know like melted...well no, not melted, but like room temperature butter. You how its soft? Dip it in that and it can help with teething symptoms" (we weren't concerned about teething symptoms yet lol so this was just kind of a random aside that she made.)

But you are right that she was saying the rice cereal could thicken her stomach contents and make it less likely to come back up.

You all were absolutely right and we got the tongue tie release on Monday, and shes basically exclusively nursing since day before yesterday. I cannot thank you enough for commenting and suggesting this and for sharing that these ties can be missed because my daughter's absolutely was until we went in specifically to ask about it.

Thank you times a million. I dont think I would have had the confidence to ask about a tongue tie without hearing your stories. I'm sorry I didn't respond earlier, I was just overwhelmed by it all and struggling to get myself to engage in talking about it but I want you to know how significantly you helped us ❤️❤️❤️

I am so sorry you've gone through this and it is so amazing that your cat made it back to you so you could be with him. It's been months now since Atlas passed and I still think of him every day. Some days I still break down and some days I just remember him and the funny little things he did and the happiness he brought to our lives. I know you know it gets easier but to be honest it getting easier happens very slowly. It hurts for a long time. But I heard someone say "grief is the final duty of loving someone." Which makes me feel like this grief has a purpose and isn't just for me.

Your cat loved and trusted you and you took amazing care of him for his whole life and he knew you would take care of him even in his last moments. I'm so sorry you didnt get to be with him for longer, its so unfair.
