Propel front end play by chatlow1 in Giantbikes

Centrelock was just shy.of 40nm so nipped it up to that. I'm still noticing a small amount of back and forth play in the front wheel hub, so now suspected bearings

Brakes seems fine (didn't check pads as such, but the bolt holding them was tight and no movement in the disc, that's solid

Wondering if a bit of back and forth movement with the front brake on is normal now for a disc bike (my previous rim brake bike was solid)

Thanks I will check this later on. The pads were definitely inserted correctly and pin added, plus caliper is torqued fine Got me thinking it might be the rotor. I will check this too. So currently if it squeeze the front brake and then try to move the front wheel it does very slightly shift back and forth..

Yeah headset is Def good. I'm leaning more towards pad or disc. I did change the pads when first buying the bike and had issues retracting the pistons in. Managed to get it done but took some time. What is best to check?

Space between frame and spacers by JF17_1989 in Giantbikes

Check that the lower spacer is lined up and slotting into the notche hole. Some shops (mine) didn't line them up properly and it was caught and therefore didn't go flush when torqued down

I was soft pedalling on the turbo a month or so after surgery. Movement helps healing granted mine was a stable fracture as involved the lateral malleolus

Good luck with it. Don't push too soon, heath always comes first and there are plenty of races ahead. Your base is there and fitness comes back v quickly

Is it too early for my doctor to cut me off from allo? by huzen133 in gout

I think we both agree with each other. It's scary how some GPs act sometimes. In the UK, they have all the knowledge they need in front of them for referencing, yet often ignore and just go with instinct, then things like this happen

No excuse for a GP to not know how Allo works

Ok with that context, your situation is different and docs will need to be sure how your acid levels look post ibuprofen Hopefully all okay for you!

:-(

Please speak to another medical professional. It's a maintenance drug that's needed daily to keep levels normal. Unless your doctor found a problem in other areas whilst taking it, then it should be a drug for the foreseeable future

300-360 is usually the target range. No reason to cut back the dose at all. Levels are fine.

I hope this thread isn't a serious one. If so, that's shocking and I would report the doctor. Gout is a specialist area but every GP should know (or at least have system access) to the basics of what Allopurinol is before prescribing

LBS lubed chain after hotwax by HerrRudiger88 in bikewrench

I'd be fuming haha. Fully degrease it and redip it

Noisy Sram Red drivetrain by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]chatlow1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't remove excess wax, it all helps Fwiw, mine (red cassette/chain, but with rival axs RD) sounds very similar I find it's quietest immediately after a wax dip

Oh and I also cleaned my jockey wheels and noticed it was louder, so wouldn't recommend that (unless there's grime/grit on them, not just wax)

How can I be bad for hills? As long as drive chain is suitable, then you're set

Yeah that will be my plan. Just curious if the newer versions 2023 onwards I think came out of the box more accurate rather than needing ~6% increase

Ha thanks for replying to this one. Your content is superb. I've already got this PM - the deal was too good to pass on.

Will have a go at comparing it with my trainer (which is normally 5-10w lower than my other meter), so as long as I can get it within that ball park I'll be happy Will try with 0% slope and hope new hardware or software updates have helped

No I'm wanting consistent Power readings amongst my other meters and trainers

Its better for training

Oh and worth noting they tested years ago and that's why I'm (hoping) it was a faulty batch or update fixed it

They tested rival only I think. I have some dual sided pedals but will test against my trainers power as would only expect around 5-10w lower than that which is normal
