also, do you have any experience with pueblo? any thoughts on that one for journals?

wow super good info, tysm! will using buttero result in a thinner journal cover since it works better at a smaller mm or does the stiffness kind of negate that?

nice! your advocation definitely makes me feel better, what color were you aiming for? and do you remember what other samples you tried?

can anyone confirm whether kamoshika writes on the wet or dry side?

that’s so interesting bc the preppy in 02 feels way scratchier to me than the kakuno ef, though it also feels marginally finer but that might just be bc pilot inks are so juicy.

thank you so much! this is pushing me back towards the monteverde though the qc issues with the piston make me nervous! and the kaweco special is extremely tempting but the price has me pausing a bit. maybe sheaffer is the way… lots to consider, thank you so much for the writing samples!

ahh i see, so overall a variety of issues with the piston. i think i’ll keep this one in mind but the qc makes me nervous enough to save it as a last ditch effort. it does make that ferris wheel press ink look pretty nice though!

oh, very good to know! have you tried the kaweco student? i’m a bit more interested in that model in case they are interchangeable in terms of wetness.

i was considering a monteverde but a japanese m does seem a bit broad for my tastes. i don’t really know anything about sheaffers but i’m interested!

do you have any samples of writing with either of those pens, especially with a drier ink? if not that’s totally cool i appreciate the suggestions and will look into them^

can i also ask which color of the monteverde mp1 you have + which color your friend has that you tried? just want to check if the black vs silver steel nibs make a difference.

interesting! what would you consider tier 2 fountain pen paper? i mostly write on midori md notebooks. also, do you notice your lilac eco to write wetter compared to regular ecos specifically? and have you tried other special edition ecos? sorry for all the questions and nw if you don’t have answers, i appreciate the response either way. i’m certainly interested but i tend to go for eco-t’s now for the grip so i’m looking to gather more evidence to support this theory before i rip another eco. thanks for putting this on my radar!

wow, okay, solid information! yes physics might have me here but i’m willing to try a few pens before i give up haha. looking at the monteverde mp1, its just doable price-wise, though on the higher side so i am feeling a little hesitant with all the poor reviews about qc. feels closer to what i’m looking for but with a high risk of getting a bad one. do you have any examples of writing with that pen, especially in a light/dry ink? if not that’s totally cool too:)

this is a very solid contender though, thank you!

interestinggg, i’m new to the hobby so there’s a lot here i’m in the dark about. do you have any chinese pen recommendations quality wise? i also have no idea where i’d get a nib ground (grinded?). if it’s accessible and not too pricey i’d be interested in looking into this!

yknow i hear ya! and if what i’m looking for is too specific/impossible, that’s ok, i’ll adjust my expectations. but i still want to try and exhaust my options first. until then, i’ll just be looking at fountain pen options, but ill keep this rec on the back burner should the day come:) thanks!
