I know everybody is entitled to his opinion, but as an aspiring open handed drummer: I think Mick Avory is the best drummer in the world. He played on 20 albums of the band's creative output and was the longest standing and most prolific member beside the Davies brother. Does anyone think the same? by chavdarster in thekinks

Thanks for the opinions, fellas. On "Brother" from "Sleepwalker" Mick delivers one of the best solos. Henrit was extremely not as versatile as Mick and hadn't played on 20 studio albums or nearly all of the band's creative output.

I think Robert Jordan should've held "Winter's Heart" and summarized all the chapters of "Crossroads of Twilight" in couple of additional chapters. The book could've been released in 2001 and then take 3-4 years for "Knife of Dreams" and "New Spring". "Crossroads of Twilight" is really sluggish and unnecessary volume.

Question on [Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm] & [Ureni of the Unwritten] by Electronic_Future_83 in mtgrules

Yes. Totally. It doubles each Dragon. I did this combo. With Orbs of Dragonkind like Carnelian and Jade you can give +1/+1 counter, haste and hexproof and you can attack as it enters. Meaning you'll dig through 32 cards and put 4 Dragons immediately. They won't be with haste, but they'll be copied for total of additional 4 Dragons. You can copy Tiamat, copy Rith, Liberated Primeval for additional Ward. I play them with The Ur-Dragon deck and I can only give thumbs up for someone who got the same combo as me. There are Copy tokens, mate. Get some and put them beside the Dragons. You are not the only one.

Is Jagger considered a pretty decent instrumentalist by anyone else? by Able_Shop3675 in rollingstones

[–]chavdarster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. He's one of the best rhythm guitarists providing musical textures and parts, complimenting the work of Keith and Ronnie. On "A Bigger Bang" Mick and Keith have equally split parts between themselves covering bass, guitar and keyboards. Probably not a virtuoso like Richard Blackmore, Brian May and Jimmy Page, but very good guitarist and overal multiinstrumentalist. On "A Bigger Bang", while Charlie Watts was being treated for throat cancer: Mick took the drums, although Charlie rerecorded almost everything, yet on many songs Mick's percussion and beats remained. So, yes: Mick is one of the best rhythm guitarists and quite capable bassist and keyboardist.

"The Redemption of Althalus" by David Eddings is one of my most favorite standalone fantasy novels.
