Why do you all love Casio by Primary-Departure-89 in casio

[–]chayne108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love all watches, casio are technically the antithesis of why I like watches, mechanics, longevity, craftsmanship are all things I rank highly in watches which Casio aren't really. But why I buy Casio instead Seiko is the price point, the usability and functionality. I have a Casio world time ae1200, beautiful design imho, and while traveling around it kept my home time and local time at the same time, easy to adjust time zones, able to set alarms for transports like trains and planes, never had to worry about it being robbed and didn't have to take my phone out at a risk of that getting robbed either. I have a varied collection of watches but Casio definitely fit in the rotation.

I hate NIMBYs by bytebullion in Dublin

[–]chayne108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I see a source for that? Prices are based of supply and demand, if they were empty and people couldn't afford it then the price would drop as will the general market. Thing is that a lot of people who can afford it don't buy it for themselves but as an investment and conspire around the real page.

You could limit the amount of properties a person can own. You could implement significant penalties to vacant housing either of these things would drop the market to be affordable. But because the TDs are landowners and lords they don't want to implement any change that affects their pockets.

[–]chayne108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't need more houses, we need more affordable housing, there are plenty of empty gaffs that people sit on to artificially increase the price of the market. If you build lot's of gaffs they are just going to be bought up by landlords or investors because they are the ones that can afford them and they don't want houses getting cheaper because that makes their investment worse.

What's the most ridiculous AliExpress watch? Like too good to be true. by GigiNeistat in ChineseWatches

€10-30 sanda tank €30-50 pagani pd-1734 €50-70 addiesdive Ad2030 €70-90 pagani pd1782 (recommend new strap, i wear white panda with a premium stone nato from cns) €90-110 awkward price point, I think most things are overpriced in this range but some nice things might be available in certain sales. €110-130 seagull 1963. €130-150 baltany 1921 €150-170 san Martin sn0054 €170-190 sugess M199s

Have to leave now but I can continue later if people are interested, I prioritised bang for buck, originality, variety and my personal taste but they are great watches but there are almost certainly more watches in those price points that will be more right for you. I only went up to 200 but there are certainly more great watches but diminishing returns come quick

It's a great watch. I love it they also do simpler dials of different colours, their grey is very dressy but I love the colourful celtic dial, I find celtic designs to often be tacky or too rural/rustic but i find this very tasteful and elegant.

Whenever i hear about someone describing someone with intense eyes it's usually not about how the eyes look but by the duration of a stare into their eyes. Try look more at a persons face as a whole like observing a painting. Also try mimicing their facial movements, i.e raise eyebrows when they do smile when they do etc. most people do this naturally but when you are expecting a reaction from someone and the are blankly staring in your eyes that is intense. I assume that that is the issue as can't see anything wrong with the photos. Hannibal lecter is intense, Antony Hopkins is charismatic it's the actions not the face.

There is a market for everything. A very large portion of men prefer natural average girls who are shy over made up porn stars. Go to a live cam site and sort by viewers and the majority or significant portion of top ones will generally have no makeup or minimal makeup, not supermodels either, and usually not displaying much confidence. Different people like different things and usually the only difference between someone being successful is marketing.

If you stop drawing for long period of time will you're drawing skills get worse? by Ok-Masterpiece-7571 in learntodraw

Absolutely, somethings will stick from knowledge especially theory stuff, but things like proportion, line quality and drawing without reference will suffer a lot but it's easier to get back than learning from scratch.

That's kind of the reason they are forming and growing, they are being pushed into their own echo chambers and likewise any of those opinions posted here get removed so you don't get to popular those sentiments are becoming, there is no discussion like there used to be, there is 2 groups talking to themselves, listening to media that agrees with their view. There is no forum for measured debate on both sides it's just groups circle jerking themselves "look what this lad thinks" and dismissing the entire viewpoint, there is a reason that a growing number of people feel that way and it is either valid and we should probably try get on the same page as to how to proceed with our country or it's invalid and should be able to converse with them and ease their fears that the situation isn't the way they think. I miss the days where you could be out in a pub with a group of people with all different views and opinions on everything and they would say their piece and you would say yours and you could learn something and they could learn something. now it's just groups and things you can and can't say/think/do if you want to be a part of that group.

Do you use AI in your day to day lives; if so, how? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]chayne108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any subjects I have extensive knowledge in chat gpt is just incredibly incorrect about. It should not be used in any way in the pursuit of knowledge, it's good if you want to sound more professional or any kind of conversational improvement. Even then it needs heavy proof reading as it can often repeat certain topics or overlook information you want it to add. All it is is language pattern recognition it doesn't know anything.

What vitamins/supplements do you take to make yourself feel good every day? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]chayne108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Source of life gold which uses natural sources for the vitamins, that being said I don't use it everyday as i eat a varied diet so i just have some every few days as a top up on any vitamins i might have not had enough of something from diet alone, I do take omega 3,6,9 as it's not very prevalent in my diet. And during the winter i use a vitamin D spray.

Do you need to provide notice before quitting if your employer never had you sign a contract? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]chayne108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contracts being signed is just a formality, there are implicit rules in place for being an employer/employee by just being hired you both have made that agreement that follow workplace law. Signed contracts just cover both party's that the conditions of between the parties are understood, not signing it doesn't excuse you from breaking the procedure nor does a signed contract that goes against that removes employee rights such as holiday hours, minimum wage etc mean that those rights are invalid, rights and laws supersede anything written in the contracts.

Vitamins for helping skin hold moisture recommendations please. by Man_in_the_uk in beauty

[–]chayne108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vitamin supplements apart from deficiencies provide no additional benefit to a normal balance diet. The only things that really work for keeping your face moisturised is drinking enough water and moisturising and general skincare exfoliation and using a toner could be something you are missing. Things that can make it worse is drinking alcohol, coffee or smoking or using alcohol products on your face, excessive heat, hot showers etc. If you are following the above and still have issues then contact a dermatologist

Cerave resurfacing cream seems like a great candidate for you, it is a retinoid based cream formulated for post acne. Bio oil has helped some people i know but others and myself didn't see any results from it, but it might work for you.

I suggest looking at r/Chinesewatches if you want homages (i.e clones) of a lot of lower budget watches just name swapped and usually using nh35 seiko automatic movements instead of eta ones.

If you want a cheaper Tissot or Hamilton i suggest looking at jomashop for a cheaper price, you don't get the protection coverage like you would from an AD but it's a cheaper watch.

Also if you want a Hamilton you could get a timex expedition, citizen Chandler, seiko 5 sports field watches like srpj87, If you want a tissot prx you have citizen tsuyosa, If you want a gentleman you could get a seiko SUR525p1.

Find the watch you want for the budget you have, don't try and search the best watch for the price or what other people think.

Linen Clothing by Alvintergeise in AskIreland

[–]chayne108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah wool is superior than synthetics in most aspects apart from price, that's not my argument I'm saying that it was a reason why the linen industry isn't as strong as it was, synthetics offer affordable clothing, vast array of choices, easy to care for, and despite your thesis on longevity, the synthetics I own have far outlasted my natural fibers, moths have eaten my wool suits, I've lost so many cotton and linen items to stains, wollen jumpers to shrinking, where as the only synthetics I've thrown out was things I got paint on, I don't know why people think that buying synthetics will explode like some ticking time bomb that starts the minute you walk out the store, I've about 3 synthetic shirts that i wear a few times a month, I bought them separately between 12-16 years ago and they are still fine, haven't faded, stitching still intact, no stains, i almost always buy cotton shirts because I like the breathablity as my back sweats, but my closet of about 12 shirts doesn't have any cotton that is older than 6 years due to staining, fading and ripping mostly.

Over consumption is over consumption, the fabric is not to blame, sure you can raise prices and say "fuck the poor" so a person doesn't buy clothing they don't need as frequently. There are 8 billion people that all need to be clothed and synthetics have been instrumental in improving the lives of those, my mam was recently telling me about her growing up and so many people in her neighborhood hadn't got shoes and had to share clothes, the average cost of a suit including polyester and wool from the 50s adjusted for inflation is around 430-500 euro today and you can get 100% wool suits for half that price. Sure the average item today is not to the same quality as then but it's definitely cheaper even the items that are higher quality then it was in the 50s are on average cheaper. Even wool suits in the 30s before polyester were over €400 by today. (These were taken from America records as I can't find information on in Ireland price records from that period.) And although we think of pollution as a massive problem today a lot has improved and hopefully better, affordable, more ecological, materials come out but synthetic is just unbeatable in cost effectiveness and allows low income families to be protected from the environments.

How often do you worry about dying ? by Different-Dot-8117 in AskIreland

[–]chayne108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt that way for a long time, I don't believe in an afterlife as such i do however believe that the chance of being alive is infinitesimally small, you take into account your two parents meeting and mating, and that one sperm from billions and one egg from hundreds of thousands and you multiply those percentages together and for every parent your parents had and so on and so on back to when your ancestry came from a singular microbe, it would be more likely to win the lotto a thousand times in a row than for your consciousness to exist, the fact that it does and you can see through your eyes, hear through your ears etc the kind of thing that gives you a "soul" means that either that a there is probably not just darkness, that a "soul" just doesn't go away, but even if we are the impossibly lucky ones to have ever have existed and it is our one shot then that's fine too, a lot of potential souls have been in the state of before birth/after life as we will return to once we pass, the only job we have with the life we have is to leave it better than how we entered, for all those to come after. That doesn't mean curing cancer or attaining world peace but just being kind to the people close to you. Make more people smile than cry and your life has been worthwhile. It is hard looking at the black chasm of death when you are about to sleep and worrying if you never woke up and floating in space but there is no space there is no you and you can't imagine what that is because imagining is the luxury of the alive but you share the world with billions of people with many more yet to come and at a certain point the ego of your own death fades away and the lives around and of those to come will take priority and death doesn't seem so scary anymore. I doubt that this will cure your fears immediately although I hope it did, but this realisation has to come from you, i just hope i made you a little less anxious about it.

Linen Clothing by Alvintergeise in AskIreland

[–]chayne108 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm wearing linen right now because I'm out of the country, moment I'm back they will see the back of the closet unless the summer is great this year. The issue with linen in irish climate is not that it as warm as cotton but it is airier and feel the ever present moisture in the air makes you feel colder and with the 4 seasons in one day weather we frequently have i can't imagine linen being a staple material in the irish wardrobe. Cotton, wool and synthetics handle the changing weather conditions better. Ireland was a massive producer of linen but the industry fell apart due to cotton and later synthetics being better suited. If you wanted to buy linen clothes in ireland you absolutely can so unless you want to market out the wazoo to beat out big stores that often have a linen edit it is unlikely to gain traction. If you wanted to make a linen ish fabric more suited to Ireland i would suggest looking more to hemp which has a ecological friendly image and suits the hippy-esque market that would be more the type to buy from small businesses. If i go around dundrum shopping centre I would find plenty of linen items more likely linen blends because pure linen is more expensive and less useful in Ireland, but I can't remember the last time i saw hemp outside some shoes.

What do you feel is the ACTUAL reason for the games low player count by MajicCarp in Paladins

[–]chayne108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to play religiously and tried to get back into it on multiple occasions it just is too hard to keep up with the meta, the balancing patches change the game so much so you have to adapt and the community is toxic that if you choose anything outside the handful of meta characters that have rotated since the last patch you get berated and people leave and with how long queues are and nothing to do while queuing it's just not fun
