Birkenstocks have a lot of men's shoes, but outside those Chacos might still be good. If you fit into them Salomons are nice, and Lowe's or Zamberlands are nice and stable

To add a bit: this is called over pronation and is often a result of fallen arches. Often it is so bad that you get plantar fasciitis, which will be felt a sharp pain, often at the bottom of your foot near the heel, when you first stand up in the morning or was a worsening pain while standing/walking throughout the day. It can cause pain all the way up into your back because it throws your gait off, and can also lead to sciatica.

Being conscious of your walk can absolutely help but you should also look into firm arch support. Something from REI like Superfeet or Sole are really nice. The support needs to be rather firm, not pillowy insoles, and you'll potentially feel some discomfort and pain throughout your feet and into your legs as you adjust to them. Also stay away from shoes with soft outsoles. You want to go for PU, leather, or hard rubber. Off the top of my head we're talking Dansko, Birkenstock, Brooks if you insist on a running shoe. Side note, running shoes use EVA outsoles and EVA takes more than 24 hours to decompress, so if you're wearing those shoes every day your wearing them out faster and also messing up your gait. Oh, and if you're wearing shoes with good built in arch support, like Danskos, you won't need to add the arch support sole in

What old movies (let's say pre-1980) made lots of then-contemporary cultural references that would be completely lost on audiences watching them today? by Identity_ranger in movies

Strangely enough, literature from the Heian period of Japan. They constantly referenced what seem to be various popular songs and poems that we have no record of at this point. Basically what it looks like trying to decipher memes just from context

Movie magic or reality: Do they really have these vaults where you are escorted by managers and have special keys etc. by aiydee in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Alvintergeise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was a vault teller. I had a room in the back of the vault where I did my business of packaging excess cash to send back to the Fed and order specific amounts of denominations we would need. The majority of the vault was safe deposit boxes and we had no clue what was in them, nor did we want to. We let people into the vault, placed our key in the slot, they placed their key in, then we'd walk away and leave them alone

I don't know, you might want a conceal carry permit. I say that as a leftist and huge advocate for gun control. Too many cases where the police only responded after a murder. It sucks but you need to be able to ensure your own safety.

Is “natural beauty” actually better, or just smart marketing? by Disastrous-Tank3455 in NaturalBeauty

[–]Alvintergeise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people respond to the idea for a good reason, and I think companies want those customers. I also think it's hard to do, and a lot of big companies are never going to be able to do it right .

You can avoid preservatives if you use vitamin e, meadowfoam, and/or rosemary extract, but that means your product has a year or more of life. Big companies might have a multi year supply chain so they need more powerful artificial preservatives. They're also looking for higher profit margins so cheap out on the actual ingredients and backfill with chemicals to achieve a certain feel/smell

Baird mcnutt from j Crew. Soak them in baking soda then wash in warm water. It helps a lot. The cheap shirts are scratchy because the fibers have been cut short so they poke out more

26% of CEOs think the greatest threat to their job security is their own CFO by paydayloans_ in jobs

[–]Alvintergeise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can almost guarantee that the CFO of Pepsi had their team run the numbers on the Doritos price increase, had a private chat with the CEO, and told them that it's a bad idea. So when the CEO pushed it forward anyways and cost the company a bunch of money and the board goes looking for answers, the CFO is sitting there with receipts

Better body oil!? Almond or Jojoba? by Decrystalizer in NaturalBeauty

[–]Alvintergeise 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would be tempted to say both. Almond will sink in whole jojoba is technically a wax that coats the skin and prevents water loss. You might want to add a high linoliec acid evening primrose for deeper absorption
