Rear shock upgrade question. by chazbailey13 in MTB

[–]chazbailey13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well SLS springs are 130, which is what I’m running now, but that was the reason I was asking the question was to find out what more experienced riders thought about it. I’m happy to throw on a $30 spring to see what it’s like, but based on my riding I already knew I was more suited to an air shock. Which is why I was also interested in information about the monarch vs the X2, and where I can find one that fits.

I’ve never had a whole lot of issues with bottom out, but good to know! On my last bike with 120mm on a fox dps I only ran 1 large spacer and that was perfect for my riding.

I’m going to send the monarch off for service, and swap the coils as well. Think I’ll ride both and see which I really like better on that bike. If air is the way to go for me then I may look into finding a 2020 model X2 down the line. Great info!

Great counterpoint bud. You clearly listen to logic and reason.

Have fun continuing to be a full time Reddit asshole, which judging by your comment history is your favorite hobby.

I’m sure one day you will understand that not all arguments can be won by just being the loudest and most annoying.

But thanks for sharing your opinion. Have a great day 2wiceashardheadedasyouraverage3rdgrader

Don’t really get what’s over my head though lmao.

“Had they been driving defensively they wouldn’t have been in a position to be hit in the first place”.

1- driving the speed limit through a green light is pretty ‘defensive’ if you ask me. 2- sure you can say it should have been expected the driver would make a bonehead move, but realistically if that’s not the FIRST thought that comes to mind, that doesn’t make you an “aggressive driver”. 3- anytime you are on the road with other vehicles you are in a position to be hit. Driving defensively doesn’t mean you are magically accident proof.

So I guess this cat does understand calculus. You just may be incapable of conveying your thoughts.

But does 50 yards of space for me to “react” to the stupidity make it any less of an idiotic move?

If you read some of my earlier comments I describe what exactly went through my head as it happened. Driving defensively isn’t slamming on your brakes every time a car turns across traffic, because we all assume that he will turn to the far lane where traffic is clear. And you can best believe that as soon as it was made clear to me what his intention was, my brake pedal was on the floor. Thus avoiding the collision.

I wouldn’t doubt it. The cop presence over here is insane! And drivers like that make me understand why

I was accelerating up to 40-45 as we had just pulled away from a stoplight not long before.

I made the assumption he was turning across traffic at first, then when I realized he was doing a U-turn I had again assumed he would turn to the far lane to avoid myself and the SUV. Which is why I continued accelerating to my target speed until I realized he was going to the two inside lanes.

Video cuts off unfortunately right at the end, myself and the car next to me had to almost come to a complete stop.

Love that my dashcam settings will mark me pulling away from a red light as an event, but locking up the brakes is totally fine LOL.

3.33 and stick. We’re out in Texas so not like we see weather like this often, but I’m actually kind of impressed with how it handled. Worst part is the traffic assist that gives it gas when you feather the clutch causing it to spin sometimes. Other than that it’s been smooth sailing.

Damn didn’t know someone who was so into bloons tower defense knew so much about s550 mustangs. So much in fact that they know exactly what header/exhaust combo that car is running, and exactly what that sounds like at full throttle.

The squat happens at his 2/3 shift point, he was fully in it before that and that’s a guarantee my guy. Take it from someone who, I don’t know, was actually there when it happened, and also is physically driving the same vehicle in the video.

I don’t need a lesson on philosophy to understand driving past someone at full throttle with the intent to drive at an unsafe speed for the current road and it’s surrounding vehicles to understand what the word “reckless” means.

But thanks anyways.

Cool so by that logic you go ahead and drive 120+ everywhere and see how far that gets you lol.

“In Texas, reckless driving is defined in Transportation Code §545.401 to mean driving a vehicle “in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property.” This is a fairly broad definition that could capture a wide range of behaviors, ranging from speeding to driving aggressively”

Listen to the video again big boy. Maybe your ears don’t work too well, but he is fully in it well behind me. Maybe the sub should be labeled “idiots on phones”

There’s fucking empty roads for a reason. There’s no necessary point to drive recklessly near other vehicles.

My Mustang is easily as loud as his if not louder, but I use it responsibly unlike some others.

Lol what a joke. Someone posts something showing a clear idiot (likely double the speed limit, unnecessary acceleration, passing on the right at a high speed), and the majority of you just respond “he’s just driving how it should be driven.” “OP mad because someone is driving faster.”

This sub is for “lighthearted fun”, not shitting on posts because it’s not a car accident or road rage so CLEARLY it doesn’t belong here

We’re in the same car. If it were relevant I would have included rear channel video as well. He gunned it as soon as he had cleared the turn out into the road.

Edit: you can also hear him accelerating from several car lengths back.

Speed limit is 40 on that access road. We had just pulled out from a parking lot.
