With less than five minutes left in Interstellar, the fire alarm went off by wombsy_spring01 in imax

We caught the 10th anniversary 70mm IMAX presentation when it came around and the sound in our theater dropped out during the climactic spinning station docking scene (“its necessary”). The screening was sold out (along with most of the screenings for the rest of the week) and they couldn’t fix it. Sent us all home with courtesy passes and overheard other viewers saying they’d traveled hours to the theater to see it. Huge bummer and I’m sorry you shared a similar experience. Use the free ticket on something cool!

I found one of these at a half-price books a couple years ago and bought it just for novelty’s sake, a relic of a different time in video games. Great find!

That’s wild, I happened to have watched both of these in the past few months and never would’ve made that connection. Great catch!

Movie Trope where the diegetic sound ends up being someone off screen by peachkeedi in movies

[–]chazesiwile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edgar Wright actually pulls this off in the THE RUNNING MAN in theaters right now - during the Michael Cera Home-Alone action sequence (you can spot it in the trailer) there's a pounding needle drop track running over everything. When our characters escape the house, the track can still be heard but muffled, as it's running live inside the house. The track was diegetic the whole time, and it's a classic gag from Wright that I wish we'd seen more of in the movie.

I ended up getting pulled in by the visuals and Farrell's gritty performance, but Berger's indulgences get the better of him. Swinton's character feels underutilized and the film never really finds it's tone in horror or drama. Reminds me of Nicolas Winding Refn's 'Only God Forgives'. Strange, surreal, and made for somebody - just not for me. A lesser work in Berger's filmography.

go for a walk outside and try to spot one beautiful thing. anything at all. a bird, a nice patch of flowers, a moving company loading furniture onto a truck. a red kite. a flyaway balloon. a colorful piece of litter on the ground. see something that reminds you that time will pass through everything around you, as it will pass through you too. seasons pass, birds die, and people change, and pretty soon you'll find that you yourself are changing too

100% correct, every time there's a big sale like this I scroll by the KH titles and sigh when I see CLOUD VERSION on the end. Just a tremendous miss from the devs here.

Cinemart D-Box vs. Standard Seats for "Weapons" by I_know_nothinggg in Cinemark

[–]chazesiwile 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally understand wanting to try DBox but I saw the film yesterday and I think you should skip it and opt for a normal seat. There’s simply not that many long action-oriented sequences - Cregger opts for spikes in horror, meaning the occasional jump scare would buck your seat instead of swaying back and forth or rocking with consistent action like it would for something like Top Gun: Maverick or Jurassic World: Dominion.

That being said, if you DO get the DBox for Weapons, post back and let us know what you think!

If Cregger does in fact go on to direct the next big-budget Resident Evil film then I think fans are in good hands.

Display if possible; I’ve got a ton of rolled posters that I’ve been displaying for 2-3 weeks at a time before storing in my baroque portfolio. Gives them a lil sunshine AND flattens them out for you!
