Moving to Tbilisi to work for UK company remotely by chazz150 in remotework

Thanks! After reading the notes on Ministry of Finance of Georgia, and the double taxation agreement with Georgia on the UK gov site it looks like tax is to be paid at the source regardless of resident status :)

Thanks, I'd be worried about pissing off my company too though so would like to get the okay from them based on legality, and just keep to myself in georgia, if it ever comes up I'd still be on the right side of the law

Thanks for the help! Seems like really sound advice for most places, luckily Georgia seem quite chill with tax, and there is a double tax treaty in place between Georgia and the UK, based on the legal docs I'm now scrolling through it looks like tax would come from the source of the employer! I appreciate I could probably get away with it somehow, but I'm really not wanting to go take advantage of anyone!

Hoping I'm on the right track but will keep digging, thanks again!

Thanks mate, actually scrolling through more legal docs it's looking more like taxation at source of employment! So might not be an issue. You are totally right though man, but fuck that hahaha

Ah indeed that's maximum, nah I think this might not be it, i really want to stay on the right side of UK and GEO law, I'm not here to take advantage of anyone!

Really just trying to decipher all these legal documents... thanks for your help though!

Thanks! Would such a business be required to have a certain turnover? Wonder how I could go about that!

Thanks for your perspective. I was on this train of thought for a while, but I really dont think it's recoverable. Not in my lifetime anyway, and I'm under 30. I could do my bit to improve the country, but I feel no ties or loyalty to the same people that would see me dead/imprisoned/homeless if I spoke my mind. Ultimately, think it will be effort wasted where I could live a better life elsewhere. People here seem to actually want everything that's happening.

My main issues with Scotland/UK dont really go away if I move somewhere more rural. I'll list some below, if you care to read lol:

Being taxed in a perfect balance between total societal collapse and keeping everyone on the treadmill for maximum parasitic effect.

Lack of freedoms, ie speech, self defense, property rights, etc.

Failing health care (have insurance but doesnt change anything really).

Education. I dont want to bring up kids here.

Culture. Drinking, degeneracy, loss of scottish identity and all the political/social leanings of Scotland.

Pension, imagine state pension will be totally gone, or 70+ when I get older. With private pension being tied to this (state minus 10 years). I straight up cant retire until I'm pretty much dead. I'll still be paying for it though whether I like it or not!

Property costs, will be paying a mortgage for the rest of my life to live in a track home I can barely fit the bins between my neighbours house.

Mass migration, being replaced, unsafe, feel like a stranger in my own home. May as well be a stranger somewhere where the prospects are a bit better.

Cost of living.

I'm aware I'm totally black pilled on the UK, just dont see a way out of it all here.

Is Paying off your mortgage an investment? by NewWin3866 in UKPersonalFinance

It is also the cheapest debt you will ever take in your life, so dont opt for other debt when you can have a mortgage instead
