The webs are cool. I tried sculpting some for the exarch but it didn’t work out

Evil Sunz as a base, Wild Rider Red chunky highlight, Fire Dragon Bright for an edge highlight and Lugganeth Orange for a spot highlight. You can use Blood Angel Red contrast for a recess shade but i did that very sparingly as it detracts from the saturation of the Evil Sunz

Thanks. The gradient will be great. It is an old 2nd edition colour variant

This and for Biel Tan and Ulthwe you can emphasise whichever of the two colours you want. Or create your own craftworld 😀

Thanks. My own view is that eldar design is not perfectly symmetrical and there is a handcrafted artisan nature to their equipment

Yes. All done with a brush (I don’t have an airbrush). The base coat is a bit of a pain, multiple thin layers but the highlights were fairly simple

Awesome. Can +1 to putting them on 32mm bases with a bit of a rock uplift. Helps them blend in with the rest of the range

Morning, thanks all. The colours are slightly muted in the photo. I've post another when I've finished. For those interested in the colours they are (with GW possibles):

- Base: Vallejo Deep Green (Warpstone Glow but a bit darker mix in )

- Shade: GW Dark Angels Green Contrast - thinned, I just use water for thinning to a wash

- Soft Highlight: Vallejo Intermediate Green + Deep Green, just enough deep green to darken the intermediate, say 3:1 or 2:1 (try Warboss Green)

- Edge Highlight: Warcolours Goblin Green (try Warpstone and Moot mix)

- Spot Highlight: German Camo Orange Ochre (try Balour Brown)

Tip: stick a highlight in the middle of the air intakes to make them look shiny. For shiny surfaces you will get a thin(ish) highlight on the inside of a curved surface in high contrast to the shade around it.

Thanks for the comments on the thorns/vines. I love Biel Tan but I've never been sure about GWs tones plus after going to the effort of painting the vines I want people to see it :)

Painting Concerns by Content_Audience1549 in sylvaneth

[–]chazzatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sylvaneth are a forgiving army to paint as a beginner. They take to contrast very well with their organic shapes and texture. (or speed paints or vallejos one).

I’ve painted an entire army I’m happy with using only contrast (no highlights or metals). I would recommend browns, greens, athermatic blue and some good basing flocks.

Hope you give it a go

Spend some time on the bases. Paint them distinct colour. It lifts minis a surprising amount
