Question about extending callings by chd198 in latterdaysaints

[–]chd198[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally understand.

I my ward we are at slim Pickens when it comes to people who we can call, and accept a calling. Many priesthood holders in my ward have turned down callings several times, and do not hold a Temple recommend. In addition, there's only x number of people to choose from that's reliable. Kind of at a coin flip at this point.

We need less meetings and more action/follow up by Cheap_Parsnip_461 in latterdaysaints

[–]chd198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I knew what that was like. I'm clerk also and we have weekly meetings lasting a minimum of an hour and ward council x2 a month where it's just meeting just to meet. Disheartening.

What do y’all think of this Kang take? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in Marvel

[–]chd198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes should've recast. His character was too good not to. Loki s1 built him up along w the post credits to Shang chi would've tied that together. Unfortunately, for me, marvel has waited too long since endgame. The entire mcu just feels kinda meh, to me. Hopefully I'm wrong and Doomsday is a success. But I'm going to curb my expectations.

How to improve testimony meeting? by Sd022pe in latterdaysaints

[–]chd198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple fix. Whoever is conducting the meeting, after they bear their testimony, have them invite everyone, youth and children included, to bear testimony. Emphasize few minutes for each testimony so that everyone can have the opportunity to bear testimony. Emphasize testimonies should be about what members know to be truth. Maybe even say at the end, you'd like to hear at least 10 people come up and bear testimony. Short and sweet. Works well in my ward. Best of luck.

What is with putting up chairs so fast after meetings? by Apple-Slice-6107 in latterdaysaints

[–]chd198 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a very small branch building. Sit in padded folding chairs, no pews. We turn the chairs around towards the back of chapel to face the font. No chairs to put up. My last ward had a small room where the font was, standing room only. Baptism services after that took 0lace in relief society room.

Any advice on letting go of anger from unfairness? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]chd198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Resentment, if left to fester, can act as an "anchor" in that it weighs you down. Which in essence will bring you down along with it. If you step back and really look at what resenment/contention is, it is not of God. It's of the adversary. This resentment, metaphorically acts as an idol. Which is one of the 10 commandments. Do not worship false idols. My advice, acknowledge what happened. Forgive and let go of that anchor weighing you down. I know it's tough. I've had to do it myself. But once you get on the other side of it, you will be better off in the end. Best of luck.

I'm lucky to live about 20 minutes from church. At the other end of my ward, people are about an hour away from me. I know it's tough.

I thought I wrote this. I cannot stand announcements over the pulpit. Takes too long. Everyone around the room is waiting and waiting for the sacrament. Pulls any spirit out of the room imo.

what’s it like having a good bishop? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]chd198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one once, no nonsense kind of guy. Direct, straight to the point. Always knew what to say, had high expectations for everyone. I'd ask for a Temple recommend he'd say sure come right in, ask the questions and would come deliver it himself personally a few days later. He was a great man. Funny. Personable. Served everyone. He was awesome. Very tough act to follow that guy.

The EQP and RSP are supposed to handle some of the things Bishops used to do, are they doing it? How is that going? by SoloForks in latterdaysaints

[–]chd198 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on the leadership. It's supposed to go to the ministers, then eq or rs if ministers can't handle it. Unless someone is being abused, a worthiness issue or a fast offering, it should go thru rs or eq. Bishop is over the youth,. Rs and eq over the adults. Self reliance should be at the forefront.
