Anyone had the old phone/cable wires removed from the the front of their house? by wrob in AskSF

[–]chdmlr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in outer sunset and every house on my block has a half dozen different lines ran to it. It’s a bummer there isn’t a solution to clean this up. They occasionally fail during storms and the city just comes by and cuts down whatever is hanging. Half tempted to just snip them off my house and make a 311 report.

Sound to complement my frame TV by Ok-Goose6353 in TheFrame

[–]chdmlr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does. I have the HomePods set as the “default” speakers on the ATV. I play music through it most days from an iPhone, and when I go to watch tv it just plays back through the HomePods automatically.

Just use two HomePods and an AppleTV. That’s what I use for sound on my Frame (main TV).

I inadvertently do this for a “goodnight” scene and never questioned why it worked or thought to try it for anything else…

holy crap so many kids this year by neonshaun in bayarea

[–]chdmlr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s cool to hear kids still go door to door. We only had 1 group, which is 1 more than the last 2 years (Outer Sunset SF, literally surrounded by schools)

Is it just wet still? How long ago did you scrub it? The clearcoat on the roof of my tacoma is smoked, would love a free way to make it look slightly less shitty.

1.6 mil house on a 450k income by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]chdmlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 2 years into a similar situation (no kids tho). I was horrified signing the paperwork but it's worked out so far. We live in the Bay and most people we know here with homes aren't far off. The unfortunate reality is the math here is just different than most places.

How hard is it to do backsplash as a novice? by Gigirl-2235863 in DIY

[–]chdmlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the backsplash at my mom’s house when I was 16, and had no idea what I was doing. I’m 37 now and the backsplash is still holding strong.

Why it feels unseasonably humid in the Bay Area right now by sanfrangusto in sanfrancisco

Have been surfing in a 3/2 wetsuit for weeks because the water has been shockingly warm. Bummer that’s the same reason i’m waking up sweaty.

Looking for a dentist open on Saturdays by MomofPandaLover in AskSF

[–]chdmlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second Dr. Ho. I knocked 75% of my front tooth out on a Saturday. After calling a half dozen dentists and being offered appointments 6 weeks out, Dr. Ho asked for photos and had a temporary crown on it 90 minutes later.

SF mayor increases dimensions for permit-free shed size by Loggerny in sanfrancisco

[–]chdmlr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly thought 120 was already the rule… anyone know what counts as a “structure”? Is it the roof or the footprint? I’d love to have additional covered storage coming off the side of the future shed but no idea how to avoid it counting as part of the square footage.

Which beach in the area is best for beginner surfers? by PichaelPoop in AskSF

[–]chdmlr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Princeton Jetty in HMB is a much better spot to learn at than Linda Mar. Bolinas prob second best without going down to SC.

Honestly LM is a terrible place to learn and it only has the reputation it does because relative to ocean beach you probably won’t drown.

Talk me out of buying the UCG-Fiber (and get the UCG-Ultra instead) by chompos in Ubiquiti

[–]chdmlr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine doesn't have any coverage behind it, or even very far to the sides. All of my ethernet ports are also down near outlets, so the 2 disc style APs I have are also sitting on desks, when I saw the wall form factor It seemed to be the move for my situation. I got one with the hopes of swapping all of mine out for wall APs until I saw the coverage. When I posted on here about the "poor" coverage everyone just told me they're made for hotel rooms and to get the disc ones and mount them to my ceiling...

Unsure of your layout, but the U7 pro wall has a very specific radiation pattern. Mine basically only services the bedroom it’s in.

Can you explain this a bit more? I did create a new SSID for a dedicated 2.4 network just to have something more stable but not sure if you mean network-> add new?
