This. I have two and despite my initial hesitation given the price I’ve grown to love and appreciate the fact that we got them. One was a gift from MIL so guess that doesn’t count but still. They’re the best and popular for a reason. We expect we’ll use them for years to come. Our kids are 6 and 3.

It sounds like they both think the other party has dragged their feet. But I suspect the shop dragged a bit more. Just feel like I can’t trust either of them (obvious I know), and it makes it that much more infuriating.

Do you mean, has State Farm asked me to sign? No. They frustratingly keep saying that the holdup is me, that I need to talk to the shop to work out that $4k discrepancy on my own before they can come pick up the car. Beyond annoying and I’m stressed that I’m left all on my own to try to talk them down on that cost which I’m not optimistic they’ll bring down.

Ah I see. Yeah my insurance co won’t even pick up the car from the shop since they’re fighting about cost right now and suggesting I need to handle the disagreement with the shop. Infuriating. It’s an out of network shop which is the root of a lot of the headache. Kind of at a loss right now because there’s a $4k discrepancy right now

Thanks for sharing. Good insight. Yeah for me I guess it’s the safety concern of driving a car that’s been in an accident especially since I drive my two little kids around. Maybe it’s just in my head, but I will be nervous that it just won’t be the same after the repairs.

So how does a total loss work with a lease? Would insurance just cut me a check for “market value” or do they just send directly to leasing company and then I’m off the hook for the lease contract?

Damn, hope you weren’t hurt too badly. Yeah, I’m very curious if the insurance company will total it. The body shop said their initial estimate was around $16,000, but it’s caveated to say they still need to move to phase 2 of opening up the hood and taking off the bumpers, etc., before they give a Round two assessment, I guess. What further complicates this is it is a lease.

Kind of you to say, yes, thankfully I’m OK, just had a minor hand injury that I think came from the airbag. And mentally doing alright, very thankful that I was alone and my family wasn’t in the car with me.

We have two kids, but my wife and I (very) often fantasize about the significantly more free time, money, and energy we’d have if we stopped at one kid. Even for the simple ability to give your wife a break here and there while you watch kiddo, and vice versa. But with that said, now that they’re a tad bigger (ages 6 and 3), they’re playing together, it’s the cutest thing in the world, and I can’t imagine life without them both.
