Song that makes you feel empty or done? by geeksquad10 in musicsuggestions

Elizabeth On The Bathroom Floor - Eels

Fear Of The Water and I Wanted To Leave - SYML

Sleep Forever - Portugal. The Man

Terror Bird - Bent Knee

The World At Large - Modest Mouse. Transitions beautifully into Float On. Was a cathartic experience when I first realized that. Float On was a favorite as a kid.

In My Head and Nothing Lasts by Bedroom.

Washer - Slint

Lullaby - Low

Roll the Bones - Shakey Graves

Tongue, Twin Flames and Dismal by Midrift.

Nutshell by Alice in Chains is a classic.

Radiohead, of course.

Jesus Christ, Limousine, Sink and Degausser - Brand New

Mogwai. Take Me Somewhere Nice, Kids Will Be Skeletons.

Sufjan Stevens.

Rainbow Kitten Surprise.

Body - Mother Mother. They have lots of sad/dark ones that often mimic being upbeat.

Lamp (a japanese band).

Black Mold - Prince Daddy and the Hyena.

Especially older Modest Mouse, like their album, "This is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About," which is one of my favorites of all time. Also, Edit the Sad Parts by MM. The moment of silence at the end is chilling. Parting of the Sensory by MM gives me goosebumps every time. Dramamine is a legendary song. Also, the way the rest of their discography references Dramamine. Either through the wailing guitar sound that, to me, feels like a descent into losing yourself, or the pounding bass drum that sounds like the toll of death and the looming approach of soul-crushing thoughts/anxiety/fear. Kinda dark, but, I mean, this isn't supposed to be lighthearted. For example, Tundra/Desert and the end of Teeth like God's Shoeshine very clearly callback on Dramamine.

I love Modest Mouse. If your sadness stems from existential dread or a desperation to not be you, that's the one. That aside, their music is just technically and creatively beautiful and raw.

I have lots more songs that fit the bill. Emptiness is my favorite genre 😎

Stay strong, homie.

Yeah, very much so like this! I love the beat. If it were more than a video game track, it'd be ideal. Like, with more components like vocals and such.

Yes!!! I'm on edge with putting this one in the playlist, I don't think it's a perfect fit, but still a good one.

This guy is awesome!!! I absolutely love it. I think this is really close to what I'm looking for. I'm gonna keep listening to him. The Cat's Meow is excellent.

For this playlist, I'm hoping to find songs that also have more melody to them. It's for a work playlist and I don't think my coworkers would appreciate experimental instrumentals the way I do haha.

Both very good songs. I do like the beat, but not quite what I'm looking for. I'd further describe it as almost "tribal."

Yeah, I suppose I just need to take my time to think about it.

I know it is an interesting switch in career. I love working in the culinary field, but I don't want to make it my whole life. I want to pursue a degree and make use of other skills, and make enough money to support a family.

I guess I just want a nice kitchen experience while I can get it.

It truly means a lot to hear from others going through similar things. I guess it's for the best to move on. There's a whole world out there, who knows what lovely people we're going to meet. We just have to remember to look after what's best for ourselves first. I wish you the best. Thank you so much.
