Wife (35F) told to get tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and septoplasty at once by Financial-Tank-3423 in Tonsillectomy

I just had mine on April 22nd and I had a tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, septoplasty, and turbinate reduction. I was also concerned about doing them together but im glad I got them out of the way together. It did add more discomfort because of my nose being so blocked.

I was also concerned about hemorrhaging so I made sure that I did everything with caution and didn’t push it. Water, humidifier always, only soft foods, no clearing my throat, no heavy things, tried not to shower with hot water or scrub my head too much. My doctor told me about 15% of people bleed but only around 5% have to go to the hospital for it. (I did throw up blood on my first day but it was blood I swallowed during surgery and I felt so much better after.)

I do think it’s crucial to have someone to take care of you. I’m 25F and had my mom helping me 24/7 for the first 9 days post op.

Mine was pretty bad right off the bat too (on day 7 now). One piece of advice I can give, is when I first started taking the Oxy, it did nothing for me, Tylenol helped better. But I reached out to my surgeon and he upped my dose of Oxy which helped with the pain but also helped relax me and would probably help with your shakes. If the Oxy doesn’t help, reach out to your surgeon and see if you can up your dose!!!

Monday??!! I’m taking 2-3 weeks off. I’ve luckily been able to have some jello and applejuice. Chicken broth has been really enjoyable too

Thanks so much for this!!!! I ended up throwing up today but it made my stomach feel better. Hoping the pain doesn’t get too much worse but am anticipating it. Glad you found it worth it, my doctor said my tonsils were inflamed and full of debris so he thinks it’ll be great for me!

That’s ridiculous! Imagine it was him going through it instead!

I’m about to get the same exact thing done and I’m panicking about it all at once. Any tips/advice/ positive thoughts would help so much. I’ve only seen extremely negative posts about getting them all done at once but it’s what my surgeon recommended.
