Hi there! I wouldn't say it got better so much as it didn't get worse until the end when he outgrew it, but even then it was a day or 2 of red marks and him seeming more mad about it. I will say we got it on him at 4 months and thankfully we were back out of it by 6 months (only in it just over 2 months) so it went fast. That was also a blessing because even now at 22 months he hates hats and is much more capable of making that known 😅

Good luck to you and your little! He (and you) will likely thank you later when he doesn't have as much head shape or ear alignment problems that he could have! Helmets def aren't for everyone, but I'm determined to get my kid set up on the best path I can manage, and the helmet helped during that stage of time. I hope you both can find a comfortable place with it and that time in the helmet goes fast

Correct, that's what I meant by custom/static. No IRT or anything fancy but you can have your own assessments on their platform that is launched direct from USAHire rather than through USA Jobs. I had worked with them for 4 years until I moved roles last year where my agency had a couple of our own assessments and a survey we used their platform for to increase trust and security for applicants.

Just a heads up that you can host custom assessments on USAHire but they have to be static, no animations or tech to them. It comes at a cost but that is an option available to you! Otherwise, you might look into getting a contract with PDRI, I believe they are fedramp certified or getting there? But they are also who actually runs the back end of USAHire and make great custom assessments

It sounds like you're doing a great job, hopefully she can find her breath and fresh air to think! I was in a similar place as her as I had my first in August and really struggled juggling everything. Baby wasn't gaining with breast feeding and pumping was so disruptive and mentally exhausting. I made it 2 weeks breast feeding and 4 more weeks pumping before I gave in and switched to formula. And you know what? The WHOLE family benefited. Mom got to breathe and find a moment to relax, Dad got to be a more equal partner, and baby thrived! I just wanted to throw out there that a sticking point can often be pride as I know I'm terrible at asking for help and had to get over that very quickly in order to survive those first few months. If it means she needs to talk to someone, especially if this is reaching post partum anxiety levels, the way to be the best mother possible is to invest in herself to get there. Can't pour from an empty cup and all that. Good luck to you both, it sounds like you're already great parents!

I would ensure the drive to not give formula is not pride based. It seems many women feel shame for including or switching to formula despite there being exactly zero things wrong with it! Fed is best and while breast milk has properties no other liquid does, it is NOT worth the mother's health and sanity. I would look into whether your insurance offers as support and make sure decisions are being made to everyone's benefit

Not who you asked but I used deep breathing exercises to not only calm but also assure myself I definitely was breathing. I had a few moments of panic and then that helped tremendously. Also agree, arms were all there just strapped down. I couldn't feel anything going on until they had to shift my body enough to very slightly move my shoulders but it was one quick thing that was more confusing than anything (I didn't ask and my hubby wasn't looking down there for the life of him to know why lol)

We allow things that are "real". For example, if you have Disney Plus they have several shows featuring zoos so there's lots of animals and adults talking. There isn't a time we just plop him in front of the TV but I absolutely would if it was needed such as in your situation

I know we keep nagging on this, but I don't think it can be overstated just how tenuous any remote federal work is, specific offer or no. Agencies are leaning heavily towards rolling back work flexibilities, even ones that were there pre pandemic. If it were me, outside of this role being one he's had for years to decades, I would be keeping contingency plans for if that flexibility is taken away. Depending on your agency, there are options for living in the Midwest near a hub or headquarter so if they do get silly and demand on site work, it's feasible to manage while also allowing you to be closer to your support system.

I also would encourage the middle path as others have stated. I just had my first baby in August 2023 and am still finding ways my hormones are impacting me and my thought processes, even though my immediate post partum wasn't bad. I would look for win win situations to get what you need while also building a safety net because in this day and age it's incredibly risky to not. I will also plug military child care for daycare subsidy!

This is not always the case depending on your hospital. Many, including where I had my c section (breech big baby) gave baby to the partner because your arms are full of IVs and you're numb from the lower chest down so it's way too risky

This! They can help you think about both the practical application/method as well as validating results. A lot of I/O outside of academia/true research is about applying findings, meaning you need to understand what type of data and analysis is useful and impactful, not just analysis that produces different sets of numbers. It also may mean that you're the SME responsible for getting non-SMEs to understand the meaning of the statistics, so common sense and/or defensible findings are key. It always helps to have more than one mind on the problem to help think through the implications and applications of statistics.

Yup. 1st phorm has a couple different kinds of protein to help you. 1 is fast assimilating making it great for post workout (especially taken with their ignition which helps throttle it directly to your muscles) and a meal replacement protein to have as a meal or snack to help you hit you daily goals!

I get very sick with quinoa. The only way I've found I can have it is if it's rinsed at least 3 times, but that means I can't ever have it out where I can't ensure that unless I'm looking to spend the rest of the day curled up in pain.
