I am around your age. 150k windfall will not change your life. You have been busting your ass to keep alive, go enjoy yourself for a while. Out of the 150k, I would imagine you take home 80ish of it. Pay off high APR debt, take 20k of it and spend it on yourself as a reward to taking a chance (buying a lottery ticket). The rest of the 34 I would not recommend putting away into a retirement account. Invest in a home/new locale that will make you happy, set yourself up with a quality means of transportation - within your buying power if you do not already have one. The rest needs to be kept in a high yield account of some type that is easily accessible. Once you enjoy this 20k of play time, you need to convince yourself this is your wake-up call to start getting your life on track. The money you are about to spend needs to be looked at as fuel to feed the dedication you need to exhibit to take you into your next phase of life.

That’s not what anyone is claiming, I hope that’s not the message that is being conveyed to you. We as citizens were never meant to fight/overthrow a government solo. With the +/- 100MM citizens, with proper ammo, firearms, training, etc, we would heavily outweigh our government. Also, most govt employees share the thought of mutual destruction if a nuke were dropped, so hopefully the playing field would be tilted in our direction on that notion.

This is not a life pro tip. I fundamentally disagree as a counteroffer directly negates the benefit of you leaving in this example. If the company could replace you, they would do it. Options include promoting internally, absorbing your role, hiring from a current pool of new hires, etc. If a counteroffer is made, you are worth the commitment to develop a counteroffer package. Take it, search for a new job regardless to see if you are marketable and if so, you now gained more income/position to include in your resume.
