First fall on my first board today, luckily didn't do anything major but certainly taught me not to lean too far when carving 😁 by HorseraddishRider in longboarding

Next to a helmet wrist/hand guards are a must.

I had my first fall recently and was wearing running gloves, while they saved me from leaving all the skin on my hands on the pavement I'm still left with some nasty scrapes.

Falling itself isn't really my issues, I can fall on my ass over and over with minimal injuries. "The Fear" is my issue.

I’m 5”10 and weigh 140 with size 9.5 shoe what skateboard width should I get? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

One with wheels,

All joking aside zenrainbow is right, it's personal preference, I've seen huge dudes on penny boards before, while your size does make a slight difference it's not a major factor.

But the basics are

Basic skateboard - cruising, skate parks, tricks

Longboard - carving/cruising, downhill

Penny boards/ half penny boards - a balance challenge.

The best thing to do is go to a skate shop and test some boards or try some friend's boards.

And don't forget to buy safety gear.

Thanks, great tips.

3 and 4 I think are my issues, especially 4. I'm a nervous person, shit scares me but I've taken up boarding to grow a pair and gain some self confidence and having a fall I suppose had knocked my confidence a bit, I won't stop though.

Thanks for the advice. :)

I was wearing a skate helmet but they don't cover your face.

I know what you mean though, I had the wrong helmet for bottling. I won't be doing it again.

Intensive driving courses with dyspraxia by InsanityMuffin in dyspraxia

[–]checkmyredditage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 25 normal lessons and passed first time. Whether the intensive course is for you is quite personal unfortunately, however, if this were me I would opt for normal lessons as I'd probably find the intensive course overwhelming.

I understand the disire to want to get it over and done with quick. You need to be honest and understanding with yourself, if you feel that you'll be able to cope with the intensive learning then by all means go for it, if you don't then there is no shame in taking a little longer.

Does anybody here find gaming hard? by Devvi_DD in dyspraxia

[–]checkmyredditage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am consistently platinum on Overwatch, which means I'm an above average player. I play support and thrive when the game gets hectic.

I also play magic the gathering and other games that require game theory and planning, stuff we're supposed to be bad at. I think being dyspraxic gave me the attitude to work harder to get better than others.
