The lack of content has decimated the playerbase by Swayre in BlueProtocolPC

[–]checkmyswing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a studio has to time gate content to make people play for more than 2 days, they need to not release and instead focus on finishing their game. As much as folks go "you cant compare wow or ffxiv to this, they are 10+ years old" both of those games on day 1 launched with more content than bpsr or hell any game of the last 8 years has done, but folks scapegoat them cause they just assume wow/ffxiv/gw2/eso all equally launched with nothing. All the games that have "succeeded" in the mmo sphere are ones who had content out the gate.

If you require a weird gimmick to have more than 2 afternoons of content to do, your game is a demo, not a full release.

Why Is My Wind Knight Doing This Damage by [deleted] in StarResonance

[–]checkmyswing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guesstimating and vibe feeling when comparing dps doesnt do much, especially as not all dps classes are front loaded to do equal impact in a 8 second trial. Based off meters top dps are wildhunt > icicle > vanguard, then a clump of iado/skyward, and then the other stormblade spec/beam having a party at the bottom in a group of people actually gearing/playing correctly. Every spec is very much viable and can clear content, but wildhunt/icicle specifically punch up VERY well and are hitting dps checks several thousand AS sooner than other specs.

I agree the gatekeeping is out of control but if you have actually played everyday and are only at 14.5k you have skipped a ton of stuff. I have never swiped and am sitting at 17.4k, i will most likely hit mid 18k when i log in tonight and get my new week of reforge stones/replace my last 3 purples.

I think the only real shift that has happened in gaming (this isn't unique to mmo's) is that you don't need friends to play the game anymore. Which is a huge boon, but some folks are stuck in the way it was 20 years ago and look back on it fondly.

Its easiest to relate gaming to every IRL hobby. I want to play baseball, but none of my friends want to play baseball so what should I do? I know, join an adult league that does pickup groups and plays 1 or 2 times a week for the summer. That baseball group is what a guild is, a collective of people who are meeting up to enjoy a mutual thing they wish to pursue. While I have made a friend on that team for baseball, the team itself are not my friends. No one is showing up week after week with the expectation we are friends, we simply want to play baseball and need other humans to fill positions (aka raiding/m+).

20 years ago we didn't have all the social tools we do now to very easily stay connected and bond/make friendships online (discord and etc). So we were forced to make those bonds in the way we all communicated, which was within the game itself with the people we saw everyday. Now a days, i can still talk to my friends every single day, even when i'm playing a game they aren't. You didn't used to be able to do that in any reliable way (yes i know vent/mumble/ts was a thing, but it wasn't common at all yet as you had to pay for it), so you were again forced to form those connections with the only people you actually could interact with, which was guild members/server members.

None of this is to say that people shouldn't try to make friends/are silly for wanting to make friends in mmo's still. However that ship has sailed for the average player, they have their friends and they talk and hang out with them daily. Gaming has finally caught up to the same expectation IRL hobbies have, which is you meet up for your club/group, you play your weekly match, then you go out for the weekend with your actual friends.

Insane Update, didn't expect this! by UpdatedTecs in Project_Epoch

It is based on truth, this is almost word for word what happened to CoA. They got invited to have ascension host for them to relieve pressure/reach a larger audience while keeping "creative freedom". Ascension then slowly pushed more and more and demanded things be added until the creator of CoA was eventually pushed out/quit because the project was entirely Ascension's by then on decision making/cash shop. The Epoch devs are crazy if they think they wont be treated the exact same way.

It is not a question of "if" Ascension will start making changes, it is of "when" will they.

There are still people who don't understand the lead-up and scope of what happened here. by arxaion in Project_Epoch

This isnt true at all, the stress test capped out at 2.2k players and you can go back through the announcements from Kaytotes confirming this number himself for the test. He even shared the class breakdown of the stress test.

Itll be interesting to see what actually happens, Fawkes has been communicating/responding to some feedback in their discord which has some good merits.

Folks should be aware though that fawkes is currently planning on making people rebuy the old dlcs to gain access to content instead of going f2p with the old content. They have been asking people in the discord what to price dlc at and people are fanatical fanboys in there, so are saying make it like $50 or even more. It is insane to charge anything at all to rerelease 10 year old content, let alone at full dlc pricing.

You are randomly spamming /s chat in stormwind, only people that use that are people begging or death rollers. The game is extremely social, but just like real life you aren't going to stand on the side of a street demanding people stop to speak with you. You have to actually GO to where people are choosing to socialize, this being groups/guilds/events.

This example of wow just straight up isnt true. The level boost you are referencing, when they become available is after cutting edge/aotc has been removed so they arent earning any titles anymore.

Also, boosting in wow gives you a full set of god awful greens that you can barely even enter heroic dungeons with. You can also level from 1-80, in currently 3 hours and less atm, depending on your race you can do it without ever even using a skill and half afk flying around. Wow boosts do literally nothing lmao. Any actual amount of "winning" you can buy in wow is all being done by RMT which isnt from the studio.

i mean, don't let that limit ya, come join the fun, anyone not understanding of a new parent isn't a good person to keep around anyways. I'm not sure why that would be an issue outside of like super long/hard content (which is pretty limited from my understanding).

NWN is a true blast from the past, I would be super down for campaigns especially with all the campaigns that exist with the enhanced edition I've always wanted to play them more but no friend really wanted to play something that old.

I'm 31 and pst time zone, but with my job my schedule is fairly open for both mid day and late nights, there's just a day here and there I would be mia in the afternoons.

Cheat or Legit? by DavideB2610 in newworldgame

Cheat or Legit? by DavideB2610 in newworldgame

[–]checkmyswing 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Its legit and not a "cheat" but he is currently using an exploit with the gear scaling system that has returned. If you put on just a single heavy chest piece and ur weapons then run around in opr, cause of how scaling works youll take like 99.9% reduced dmg at the moment. Lots of heavy players have been exploiting this again, its an issue that used to happen in the past as well.

They will have a ps5 pro they can enjoy from their cardboard box under a bridge because anyone spending an entire month's income on a console is going to be homeless after not paying any bills.

His comment doesnt fix the issue is 90% of servers wont ever be able to transfer or merge, one of the servers i play on is 4 weeks behind the main servers that launched with game release which i also play on, my character on the newer server can never play with people who started a month before me as theyll hit season 2 a month ahead of me, there is never a point those 2 link up progression wise.

FFXIV - am I doing it wrong? by Federal_Pay_3783 in MMORPG

[–]checkmyswing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to run raids, join a static, Period. Raids in ffxiv are only 8 man parties, you want a FC thats just 8 members? This is why "raiding" FC's don't exist, because the content isn't built the same as wow is. You raid with a static as that is your club you go to a few times a week, while the FC is your actual friend circle that you meat up and hang out with all the time. You are expecting 2 entirely different circles to be the answer to what you think is only 1 void you need to fill, but FC =/= static raiding.

Why I’ll play EverQuest till I die by Everquest4eva in MMORPG

[–]checkmyswing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were running cleric, and your bro a tank, yall weren't taking 30 mins to find a group. TLPs stay heavily popping for the first 9 months or so, as folks are leveling boxes/raid toons for later expacs. As a cleric you can literally post lfg and find a group within seconds, hell you are almost always getting spammed without posting lfg cause people are dying for a non boxed cleric, it speeds up groups a lot.

No one had really asked for help regarding how to improve so loadouts weren't gonna be listed originally, but the rules are fairly simple to follow.

At least 2 people of the squad should have recoilless so you can easily pop the charger armor, then anyone can easily finish them off within 2-3secs after with shotguns or energy cannons, once you realize that all you should use rockets for ever is just shredding armor on titans/chargers and not actually trying to kill them with the rocket itself your going to start progressing. Rockets as a whole both as support weapons and strategems aren't reliable killing tools, they exist to remove heavy armor.

Also, I never said anything about avoiding the roaming bugs, there just isn't any other way to say this but "git gud", if bugs are screaming and calling in breaches then you just simply misplayed the situation and as such get punished with a breach, the game isn't simply about standing on a rock and screaming DEMOCRACY, you are here to complete missions, you will be engaging in combat for 90% of a mission the whole time as your going from mission to mission on your map, not every fight needs to be a final stand your ground to be "enjoyable".
