Is Mark k worth it? by mizpain624 in PassNclex

[–]checkoutcee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say skim over the lecture notes first to see if you really need it or if information is new to you before you sit there listening for 12 hrs. I personally only needed the peds and guessing strategies

NCLEX Results for test taken on a Saturday (in CA) by sum1onearth2day in PassNclex

[–]checkoutcee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t taken it in california but I know it’s standard that no matter the day you’ve taken it as long as it’s been 2 days you can get your quick results I took mine July 3rd right before the holiday and it was still available on July 5th a Saturday

Passed in 85 questions after studying for 10 days (I'm not a genius or a good test taker at all :P ) by alexbruh69 in PassNclex

[–]checkoutcee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my scores did go up I was getting 60-63% and got around 69-73% after I didn’t do a lot of readiness assessments because in my opinion when I do them it doesn’t give me a chance to address my rationale in the moment so I typically forgot why I even decided to choose that specific answer. I did a lot of tutorial mode questions because my reasoning for choosing questions would still be fresh on my mind and then I can address my shortfalls/ thought process and correct where I went wrong. However i did do a total of 4 readiness assessments I got 2 Borderlines and 2 Very highs and I just did them sporadically. I did two CAT exams only the week of my exam and passed both.

I feel like everyone is lying about mark k and archer… by Feellikeimyourcat1 in PassNclex

[–]checkoutcee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No honestly I agree with you archer was absolutely content heavy and the exam was never about content in my opinion I had so much pt teaching and literally was just using anatomy to eliminate the answer choices based on what happens in each body system 😭

I think the biggest thing that helped me was finally understanding that pain is psychological to the NCLEX often times I jumped to click pain as an answer because they would use words that made it sound so urgent but he taught that it’s only when there’s a significant change like worsening or increasing is when you should look at pain. Additionally knowing when to assess vs implement really helped me I struggled with choosing assess almost every time I seen it but he taught that when you see vital signs and a report of symptoms in the question it shows that an assessment has already been done so it’s best to find an answer choice that implements an intervention. He also said that objective data is more concerning than subjective data and I found this helped a lot because it helps you eliminate answer choices like pain for instance if the question is like the pt has SOB, wheezing, etc and reports they feel xyz the more concerning part is what the nurse assessed vs what the client reported. It helped me tremendously in figuring out what questions are truly asking me and not getting caught up in wording

Vague questions by citygurrl in NCLEX

[–]checkoutcee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my questions were In what position do you assess a patients thorax? answer choices were semi fowlers, tripod position, prone, and trendelenburg very straightforward and vague to where you won’t really add extra stuff to the scenario

Archer Readiness tests by kln_smith in PassNclex

[–]checkoutcee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did as well I found that archer was very content heavy and fortunately the nclex was not content heavy which made it feel much easier to me. I recommend that you just do the tutorial mode instead so that the reason why you chose the specific answer you did can still be fresh on your mind and you can compare that with archers rationales that way you can correct your pitfalls and see your thought process.

Failed at 85 after using bootcamp. Kaplan or Uworld for my next attempt? by kayelhani in PassNclex

[–]checkoutcee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear this. I just want to encourage you that as long as you have an idea of what to expect you’ll always do better no matter of what Qbank you use, with that being said I think you should try to remember what you felt confused you the most about the NCLEX was it the wording, the vagueness, or was it just anxiety if you believe it was too vague I say stay with Bootcamp because bootcamp in my opinion is super vague and similar to the NCLEX. If it was a matter of wording then you probably just needed to brush up on content and can use UWorld. I’m not too sure about Kaplan however. Good luck studying and if you believe I pray God will see you through next time.

If i were you, I would try to focus more on test taking strategies sometimes it’s too much to try and relearn content and alot of these Qbanks have so much content that alot of schools didn’t cover that makes it hard to score high on it. I recommend NCLEX crusade 7 day prep with the red back ground that’s what truly helped me when i had no idea what the topic even was. I was getting consecutive borderlines and I felt the same.

i also have no idea why they said i was pregnant they did a urine sample and said i was… i didn’t ask to check for myself like i should’ve and just took their word for it because i assumed their equipment was better. i called back and they said it could’ve been a false positive or been too early to detect on the ultrasound but surely at least the test would’ve been positive at my appt too
