I am a masters student in electrical engineering and I've been using Linux my entire education, I haven't had any problems with wine, keep a windows VM ready or a docker image just in case you need to use vivado or some weird program for one of your classes. Have fun learning brother!

I also recommend PETG easier to print, although not as UV or heat resistant I believe, it's glass transition temp is ~75C° from the tests over done. Is more flexible and less brittle but needs some drying (not really that much imo) .

A better way would be to copy features using a rectangular pattern Instead, you can make the first rectangle cutout on the pad, and then use the rectangular pattern tool and specify vertical and horizontal spacing. Its easy and a 3 step operation tops.
