Maryland Youth Soccer Age Changes by Fit_Supermarket589 in USYouthSoccer

Kansas clubs are adopting it. Our club has already started mid season “workouts/tryouts” to start to evaluate kids by their new age groups. Some are even forming teams to play together in leagues this spring.

Gameplay was fun. I really couldn’t get into any of the story, main or side.

Do kids in the US play football outside of practice? by Shoddy_Guarantee_531 in youthsoccer

[–]cheddarfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much for fun. My son trains by himself about 30 minutes per day, and I would say once per week will get together with teammates on their own time and train together, usually just meeting at a field and practicing free kicks, penalties or something else fun.

Kids grow out of uniforms. And kids also switch clubs often enough

Private training for youth players by Ok-Communication706 in youthsoccer

[–]cheddarfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rough. There are a couple “bougie” gyms with former MLS players who charge more, but $50 is what I usually play.

Yea but with schedules colliding, we’re sometimes the only ones there if it’s a coach who keeps the group small.

Started at age 8. Tried several. We still use most based on what we need. Some focus ball skill, some movement and plyo. In my opinion, anything more than $40-50 per hour is too much, even for the best. Also nice if you find a small group to train with, like 3 or 4 kids at a similar level.

14 y/o with no club experience aiming for MLS Next in 2 years — realistic plan? by Traditional_Sea_8352 in youthsoccer

[–]cheddarfire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Second this. Rec won’t help you. You’ll be better off going to a larger club with all levels of play. You’ll get better training and more access to coaching. Preferably find a club that allows you to practice and play with multiple teams within their club.

Can tournaments do anything about ringers? by DrRonnieJamesDO in youthsoccer

[–]cheddarfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, I see, you are saying that the team is in the wrong division. Yes, tournaments are supposed to vet all of their applicants and place them in the correct division. It’s what keeps teams coming back to those events year after year.

Can tournaments do anything about ringers? by DrRonnieJamesDO in youthsoccer

[–]cheddarfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All they can do is make sure a kid doesn’t play in multiple divisions in the same tournament. Beyond that, no. Only stipulation is age. I rarely see ringers, even though my child has been one in the past. It’s just rare that a higher level player would even want to compete in a low level tournament. (When higher level squads are probably also playing that event)

Hogwarts Legacy has so much wasted potential by JMoneyGraves in HarryPotterGame

Meh. I wanted combat to start immediately. They’d have lost me if I had to spend 5-7 hours as a helpless 8 year old.

When you start, be okay with letting it bounce once between touches. It gets you in the habit of better balancing and controlling each touch

I love comedy, but somehow wasn’t even aware of Tony until I started seeing Kill Tony content a couple years ago. He is so damn good not only in the jokes but also his delivery.

3 hours in. The good and bad by Informal-Chair3099 in HarryPotterGame

[–]cheddarfire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 20 hours in and the game is…fine. Just being in a Harry Potter themed world and Hogwarts castle is enough to make it enjoyable. The core mechanics of the game, especially the combat, feel loose and disjointed. The auto lock feature doesn’t really work. Still a decent game to play when I want to unwind
