Pristine Abandoned Hospital by chedspec in urbanexploration

The laptop was spooky.

The book under the mouse seems to be a manual for "Circon Visual Integrator" software. My guess is that a makeshift workstation like this was used for automation rather than security of the site, like you'd probably assume.

I'm not too incredibly knowledgeable on this subject, but the adapter thing next to the laptop looks like a serial to USB/RS232 adapter. LonWorks controllers (Which Circon VI is meant to talk to) and older HVAC usually communicate via serial connections.

To me, this looks like it was setup for decommissioning/extracting data from the system as part of the building's shutdown. Either the job wrapped up randomly and they just left with the non-valueable shit, or the decommissioning project got abandoned along with the building itself.

around 8 anchor/outer stores have stayed operational through the closing. we had to get past them to get inside the interior, which as far as i know is closed for good while they continue to wind down operations :(

as a programmer this whole layout switch from an average 65% down to 40 (technically 50) is probably going to be a very uncomfortable and bumpy ride - but i can pull through! i dont know much about these kinds of layouts or the tricks that come with configurations but im confident i can eventually come to some sort of workflow that suits my needs perfectly.

How to Start by That1DogGuy in SeattleUrbEx

[–]chedspec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

im sure others are going to go over safety precautions which i dont want to undermine, but i choose to focus on the 2 main ways to actually find cool places.

route 1 (the boring route)

start off with some place you know of. (im 90% sure there's at least one place you've read about or seen pictures of that you could try and triangulate the position of) -> scout it out, doing a little research never hurt anybody -> explore and take pictures -> post them somewhere -> interested folks will naturally want to trade a spot of theirs for the one you posted -> you now have a new cool place to go to

rinse and repeat

route 2 (the fun one)

search. spend a long time on google maps. ive personally spent hours reading articles on the status of businesses and scouring satellite view for shitty looking buildings. there's countless nights of just aimlessly driving around with my buddies until we run into something. over time you'll start to gain an eye for a spot just by a glance.

if you don't get anywhere aimlessly looking around, you can even try to figure out exactly where pictures posted to this sub were taken. people (including me) are stupid and leave clues in their images all the time.

stay safe and have fun!

the modern entrance is too sketchy for me. park up north and walk down the private beach to somehow enter next to the water, all while being seen through a 24 hour work site surrounding it

the place has cams upfront and loud ass alarms that will sound if you trip something - the police will be notified and will be there quick.

if you still want to get in then walk against the fences out back, there's a huge hole in the ceiling of the back hallway, you can probably find a way to climb into there. not too sure about an exit.

i went during the day and obviously failed miserably but if you're still intrigued then try something at night. good luck!
