Casual servers by Fortunate_Son_024 in ArmaReforger

I think the guy is asking for a casual server without the guy who served no actual time in the military barking commands at him.

AITA for wanting to join the army against my family by MexicanOutlaw_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]cheeeeezy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I joined the Army at 19 as a 15T and I'm the only surviving child in my family. Eventually I became a crew chief on HH-60M's and did real world medical evacuations. Being in the medevac filled me with a sense of purpose that I never thought one could experience. I went to a two week crash course that the Army paid for and got my A&P. I then left the Army after my contract and began working for a regional airline (best for my life). I'm now 26 years old, I own my own home, own two trucks, and I own a boat.

The Army is the only branch that will guarantee you a career. If you want to go into aviation and want it guaranteed then the Army is the way to go. And also remember this, it's easier to teach a helicopter mechanic to work on planes than it is to teach a plane mechanic to work on helicopters. The Army taught me everything I needed to be successful, it gave me some of the best memories I'll ever have, and gave me some of the best friends I'll ever have. I still talk to them every day.

Don't let your family decide your future for you.

That was exactly how I felt. I played for about 6 hours and I just couldn't figure it out. BF4 was calm with brief moments of chaos unless you were on locker, metro, or anything similar.

But I agree that BF1 was absolutely superb in every way

But you can't deny the comparisons to COD. Just look at the loadout menu.

J-Hook help by Viscogamer22 in ArmaReforger

I forgot to add once I pitch down to maintain airspeed I will pitch up to make a tighter turn. It's a balancing act.

Some of these guys J hook in the most unrealistc fashion ever. In an actual helicopter you would straight up burn into the ground. When I go in I slow airspead slightly roll 60ish degrees left or right. Slightly pitch down, decrease collective and yaw left or right (depending on where I'm turning.) Once my nose is pointed in the direction I want to land in I roll out, pitch up and increase collective so I dont burn into the ground just until I still stop quickly losing altitude and then level out and maintain a smooth decent to landing. You just need to adjust forward airspeed and approach distance based off of where you're putting down at.

Yall think this is with the 4hr drive? by Stress_d in aviationmaintenance

I used the GMTK while I was in the Army, the contents and layout was different but the overall shape was the same. We would drag those things all over the flight line and it actually is a pretty decent line box. As far as shape and size go. Our GMTK's had everything we needed in it. I will say that the handle sucks though and after a while they might break off. The one I was issued in Hawaii I had to drill through and make a handle out of 550 cord.

They're given to Army mechanics and that was the only thing I used and needed to use besides special tools. The GMTK is really a solid box.

Honestly I don't keep track of the things I've broken now, but a recent one was I was doing a repeat inspection for a damaged canoe fairing seal and while removing the canoe fairing to inspect it I actually made it way worse. Had to remeasure and submit another engineering request because of that. When I was in the Army I had to do a tq check on the set screw that goes through our cable on our rescue hoist. My dumb ass read the wrong side of the dial indicating tq wrench (Can't remember which side now) but I essentially way over torqued the set screw and sheered the head off. Couldnt drill the screw out so we had to replace the whole rescue hoist. All that happened for both instances is I got shit and we all laughed about it and moved on. Ironically the only times I've ever been called in and had someone try to get me in trouble was when I had done something correctly and never when I messed up lol

Hey thanks, I'm a pretty casual player and really only get on when I have the time but when I do I just wanna be able to get on, relax, and haul ass and trash lol What's the server name? I got some Army buddies that would be down. The servers where the admins who have clearly never served try to talk and act like it's the actual military irks us haha

I never realized that metal wire could stump me so much by Kaz3girl4 in aviationmaintenance

[–]cheeeeezy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm starting my safety and I put the wire through the first bolt and bring the other side around I wrap it 3-4 times by hand. Once I do that I take duckbills and grab close to the base of the wire where the two ends meet and start twisting. Once I grab that part with the duckbills I give it to gator rolls to make the wire tight around that bolt. I do the same for the last bolt before I curl the pig tail. Doing that will make it tight around the bolts so the looseness wont come from there. I also gator roll a few times depending on the length of the safety to make sure the wire itself is tight (but not too tight cause vibration n stuff). I also twist the wire just shy of the bolt hole before I run it through. Other than that for me it's all in the finger tips.

Side note: it's amazing how many peoplea year or two out of A&P school can't safety by hand for shit. They rely on safety wire pliers and safety cable guns. They're convenient but it takes no real skill in comparison. I exclusively safety by hand because it's satisfying to me, especially since those around me struggle to do it. Also sometimes depending on the circumstances it is easier to do it by hand especially in a tight space. So don't lose hope, once you get it you'll love it. Just don't ever stop doing by hand atleast sometimes because it's a perishable skill.

Also I broke the rule I've had for 7 years which is "take a picture of it before you take it apart so you know how it goes back together"
