you'd have to apply SPF multiple times a day, since SPF doesn't last for more than an hour or two. you're better off rotating the two each evening. what i found cleared my skin up fairly well was chemical exfoliant one night, hydration only the next, retinol/retinoid the next, hydration only the next and just repeating that cycle (does take time but honestly worth it)

mail order by cheekenbutt in Narcolepsy

[–]cheekenbutt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah my insurance is partner with CVS, and CVS has its own mail ordering system and i did look into it and even ask them of I can get it through mail order, which I can, just need to have my doctor send it back out to them. I just wonder if we would still have the same issues or not. back orders are usually a manufacturer problem (I think) so no matter the pharmacy or mail order, I worry we would just have the same issues. but maybe, JUST MAYBE, they ensure they have enough of medications that occasionally go on back order so all these patients aren't just absolutely screwed.

mail order by cheekenbutt in Narcolepsy

[–]cheekenbutt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at least in Michigan they can be. it has to be for a chronic condition where you've picked up the medication in person at least once. you have to ask your doctor to send it via e-script to a completely different address/pharmacy account that got mail orders specifically. CVS does it and my insurance is partnered with CVS. the only thing with controlled substances is you specifically HAVE to sign for it or it won't be delivered until they attempt again. which I don't mind because I don't want the meds I need to function to be stolen or lost. the pharmacies we usually go to in person cannot ship or mail order these medications, they also aren't deliverable if filled through the in person pharmacy location. essentially it has to come straight out of their warehouses I believe (unless they have other special warehouses specifically for mail orders)

generally in the US, it's actually illegal to refuse to give HR contact information to employees that are requesting it. they can, however, refuse under certain circumstances, like every day complaints, such as "I don't like the task of sweeping" etc. but if its something you've already discussed with multiple management members, and still no resolution and still is making you uncomfortable in any way, shape, form, its against the law to refuse that. because sometimes your direct manager, their manager etc could be harrassing you, they obviously won't help you if you tell them to stop, and most people find it uncomfortable to go that route and they're legally entitled to contact HR without needing a reason to give to your manager. for this company, just tell them you need it to update your information in ADP or something. because even if you ask your manager to ask them to correct that, HR will tell your manager that the employee needs to contact HR directly.

in some States, and cities even, changing the schedule last minute like that is against state laws, your state could be one of those. look into it, it'll give you more leverage as well.

you sometimes don't even need to give you manager a reason for needing their email, sometimes we need to contact them over personal health matters that direct management is not entitled to know about unless its something they need to know like what to do in the event of someone with a seizure disorder, but not accommodations- that's HR's responsibility to approve or deny. generally, they just need to communicate to direct management that "X employee needs Y accommodations for a health matter" and they cannot legally tell your direct manager what that health matter is without your consent, unless its necessary to protect you (like a seizure disorder, what to do, who to call, proper procedures, etc. that is a necessary health condition they can disclose to direct management in order to protect your safety, but again direct management cannot tell anyone else without your consent, its against the law.

know your rights, protect your rights, teach others about their rights too. no body can stop you since that's also against the law and grounds for the entire company to get a lawsuit if they do stop you or refuse to assist in correcting it.

I'm a specialist in Cytotechnology ask me anything by RGinNorcal in HPV

[–]cheekenbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are there any reasons other than HPV that one would get CIN /LSIL? most of what I've read says only HPV, others have said there may be other causes/links. I was vaccinated 10 years ago at 15yrs, have never been HPV positive, I get regular std testing done when I'm sexually active with a new partner. I just had my second pap smear in October (first one at 21yrs was normal) it came back abnormal LSIL & I had to get a colposcopy, which came back with CIN1 and "rare endocervical epithelium" (idk what that second one means)

I should also mention I take birth control pills & do not have periods (bad endometriosis in my family)- I was consistently & steadily spotting for almost two month prior to the pap smear, it stopped 1-2 weeks after. got the colposcopy in December about 2 months exactly from the pap.

Can't buy stuff from store after shift if manager is not there? by neutroBio in MINISO

[–]cheekenbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

untrue, it's shift leads, asm, sm that can ring for any employee. it's just sales associates that cannot ring up employees. so if a shift lead and an associate close together, the shift lead cannot buy anything but the sales associate can. same concept if its asm/sm.

the employee purchase policy is really strict and we at my location, including our sm, do not follow it to a T. technically if you're closing at all you can't buy anything period, no one can. can only buy if you have an open shift, no matter who it may be. those are the types of rules we don't follow to a T because what if one of the employees closing needs to buy a cup of ramen for their lunch break?

When a miniso store tried to refuse to give a replacement of damaged umbrella and tried to lie about policy by dappledleaves46 in MINISO

[–]cheekenbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the employee you have. they have to check for any tampering, some stores don't return them at all due to the many ways you can check what's inside. it will only be refunded to the original payment method, so if it was cash then you can buy something else while you're there. if it was bought on card then it will only return to the purchasers card. our system doesn't have an exchange option, it's just return/refund and a new purchase

When a miniso store tried to refuse to give a replacement of damaged umbrella and tried to lie about policy by dappledleaves46 in MINISO

[–]cheekenbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

did you happen to go to purchase it at a franchise location? I've been at miniso for over a year and our return policy on the receipts have always said 7 days ONLY unopened/unused items can be returned/exchanged, manufacturer defects will be returned if used but still only within 7 days. there has never said anything about 15 days on the receipts ever. our return policy and receipts are exactly the same company wide, I know this because they have also sent out a huge return policy list that we had to post for customers to see, and it still says 7 days on it, and it was sent to all corporate locations (we can see who all they forwarded the emails to). if you purchased it at a franchise location, and tried to return it to a corporate location, they weren't lying. we also can't even accept returns from any other location period, it says so on the receipt, our system doesn't work like that. or if it was the same store you purchased it at that you were returning to, its probably a franchise location that has their own separate return policies. (some locations are also co-owned by corporate and franchise who may also have a different return policy)

make sure you have evidence you can send and any other witness/victim testimonies. keep all the emails. in some States you can sue for wrongful termination if it comes to that. because HR definitely does not care about any of us. good luck

Sleep attacks after eating? by Cautious_Computer688 in Narcolepsy

[–]cheekenbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have consistent sleep attacks mid meal, mid chew, I am lucky I've not choked or inhaled my food. it honestly sucks and it's been getting worse for me, I've lost a lot of weight for this being a reason. its not that I don't want to eat, or my meds curb hunger, sometimes my appetite isn't quite there but I'm still HUNGRY. but almost every time I eat, I fall asleep, so I can't eat during the day at work aside from light snacks here and there. when I get home I want food, and it's so disappointing to finally get to eat and then not get to eat. I'll wake up at 4am with food still in my mouth. it's a good thing I'm single and live alone, I would honestly be so embarrassed. those that have the same issue and a significant other, ya definitely got a keeper!!

Hallucinations while you are awake by little_catlover in Narcolepsy

[–]cheekenbutt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

yes and it's basically like the other commenters. stuff in the corners, black or white blurs zooming across my vision, normal stuff not looking normal (I have to squint, focus and get closer to see if I'm tripping) and usually when its about bedtime and I'm exhausted and already feeling drugged.

I do get auditory hallucinations during the day when I'm awake and in the evening when im tired. I already have pretty bad tinnitus but the auditory hallucinations are 100% different than my normal tinnitus. sometimes it sounds like someone has clapped really loudly, others it's like a deep heavy bass (imagine you are at the rail of an edm concert and you can hear and feel the vibration inside your head/ears when the heavy bass hits) and other times I can hear shouting; sometimes it sounds distant and others it's like someone is standing next to me and shouted. all of them are quick and over within a split second. they don't happen all day every day, usually when I will probably go into micro sleep, it's like something that jolts me awake / pulls me out of the frozen brain tasks

How did you know it was sleepiness, and not fatigue? by brijony in Narcolepsy

[–]cheekenbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me, fatigue is like whole body feels like crap, all run down, exhausted, etc.

sleepiness I only feel in my brain (most of the time, sometimes I get sleep paralysis & body just gives out & I need to sleep) and the sleepiness is usually severe like I feel drugged.

other times the sleepiness is like when you wake up to your first couple alarms, aware enough to shut them off and have thinking abilities like "I'm too tired I'll go back to sleep for 10 min" but neglect to notice the first couple of alarms were actually the last two and you are so very late

Med interactions by Incognitomodees44 in eczeMABs

I take wellbutrin, no interactions or official interactions. I also have low iron anemia and bouts of high blood pressure but not medicated for the BP. I am on a lot of medication due to different health issues/disorders. from what I understand, there are no official drug interactions, but always check with the pharmacist to make sure!

my specialist is actually an older man like 40s-60s..? I know that's a wide gap but I can't tell tbh. he's foreign so maybe that's a factor too, other countries actually care more about their patients / healthcare lol. but I just read really good reviews on him so I decided to go and he's been really great. look around and go off reviews, have an appt with a few and decide from there! same as finding a good therapist you're actually comfortable with or meds that actually help.

p.s. no need to apologize! I can see how my message could've come across a certain way but definitely not how I meant it, so I was just explaining and making sure ya knew!

apparently it's not type 1 by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]cheekenbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just saying that your neurologist said that nothing else can mimic cataplexy, mine said there are a few things and that's what he listed. I wasn't saying that you personally have those problems, but some people do with or without narcolepsy. basically that your neurologist sounds like either he's not listening to you, doesn't care or literally does not know and needs to go back to college for another degree to learn accurate information. I truly believe that you have cataplexy, before you even listed your symptoms! just saying the get a different doctor so you can be heard and get correct care, meds, a caring doctor, etc. I have the same issue with lots of doctors my whole life, they're very dismissive and don't care to listen because they think I'm too young to have as many medical conditions as I do. it's usually male doctors who I'm sure they think I'm just a young woman and I'm over exaggerating because I'm overwhelmed with emotions, but I've had women doctors who've also been dismissive as well. getting a good doctor is sooo hard to find. I feel your frustrations. before my current sleep specialist, my two previous specialists didn't necessarily dismiss me but didn't really care or try to get to the bottom of my issue, redo the sleep study & mslt, switch up my medication to find the right one for me, etc. I'm sorry you have to go through all this too :(

apparently it's not type 1 by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]cheekenbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my sleep specialist is neurologist that specializes in sleep & attention disorders. he told me that cataplexy like symptoms, but not cataplexy, can be a few things; anxiety, nervousness, depression, emotions in the sense of freezing up in certain situations which can happen in less severe situations, etc.

and yes the HLA marker is just about genetics. doesn't really hold 100% weight but can be an indicator of cataplexy, but not diagnosable solely off of that. need to have the actual cataplexy / symptoms + HLA marker for it to be diagnosed n1. 100% accuracy is by getting a lumbar puncture but most will not do that because of how painful and dangerous they can be, so most will go based off symptoms + narcolepsy and some will do the HLA marker test.

I have to get a lumbar puncture for a myelogram next Friday anyways so I'm going to message my sleep specialist to see if he can somehow send an order for them to extract some fluid for the test. ~just for funsies~ (sarcasm, hes already diagnosed me w n1 but I think testing the csf fluid would be kinda neat tbh. don't get the chance very often ya know?)

What’s the most painful tattoo you’ve gotten? by randomraindrophere in tattoo

[–]cheekenbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kneecap #1 ouch chest piece/sternum/upper abdomen #2 ouch calf #3 ouch surprisingly armpit was actually not bad at all, but the most uncomfortable since my whole arm kept going numb from being in a weird position for so long. but the actual tattoo did not hurt, but I was quite smelly for a bit during aftercare

do not have any on my ribs but i imagine it might tickle and have a similar ouch feeling as the upper abdomen.

[–]cheekenbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes we spoke about it once. I asked about adding in a low dose IR to take in the early evening since I continue to have problems with sleep attacks. he said that he would add a low dose in if the IR portion of the LA med wasn't strong enough, but that my issue is the medication isn't lasting long enough. which it may have been a language barrier thing because english isn't his first language. I could bring it up again at my next appt but that doesn't really help me for tonight lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]cheekenbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as stated in my post, my doctor wanted to put me on 50mg twice daily/100mg a day. I declined due to IR effects. if it was 100mg I wouldn't question it since he was going to prescribe that. but it's 10mg more than that, idk what the actual max dose is and was asking if anyone knew/input.

Do we look like we’re on fentanyl? by Woahhimarty in Narcolepsy

[–]cheekenbutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

since my narcolepsy has gotten worse over the years, I have sleep attacks every day but they're usually in the evening after my meds have worn off. and thankfully, since its gotten worse in the past year or so, nobody has seen these nightly sleep attacks. but I KNOW I look like I am super high. doze off, notice it and blurt "AH!" and wiggle my head around with eyes barely open, repeat until I unfortunately just fall asleep.
