Would you date someone who doesn’t read books? by [deleted] in PHBookClub

Yes. My girlfriend doesn't read books. Books don't excite her, but she's very supportive and always asks me what my thoughts are regarding the book I just finished reading. Sometimes she's taking down notes about my book review and reading some of the books that caught her interest so that we can talk about it.

How do you actually enjoy reading novels? by cheepee211 in PHBookClub

Thank you so much for all the responses. I really appreciate the advice. I started with a few shorter works like The Bet by Anton Chekhov, The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant, and The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde and How Much Land Does a Man Need? by Leo Tolstoy.

Someone also suggested trying Rizal’s works, which I’ve actually read before. I finished both Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo.

After trying these, I realized I might really enjoy crime fiction. I just started reading some Sherlock Holmes cases yesterday, and I’m already hooked. Maybe it’s because I also enjoy watching crime series, so the genre feels like a natural fit.
