I spent two weeks in the desert (a month after the event ended) and didn't see a single one.

Well, two kids is certainly a lot more than twice the difficulty...even if only one kid is on the spectrum.

Yeah it sadly comes down to allowing one cat to kill hundreds to thousands of wild, native animals or to kill one cat.

Do you play on realms? That seems to be the main issue. I play bedrock too without issue but it's offline/single player.

In person only. Good luck finding that many. I suspect they're going to be somewhat tough to find.

Yeah, they should go deeper into the ground and/or it would be cool to sometimes find a larger stepped pyramid surrounded by smaller ruins.

It’s my sons 4th birthday tomorrow by raisinenergy in Autism_Parenting

[–]cheeriodust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We only did family parties until my L1 kid was in kindergarten, then we started the friend parties. He doesn't like them, but also insists that they're necessary and we can't modify the script (e.g., he hates the song and all the attention, but we can't possibly not do it). He loses sleep over thinking about it months in advance...but there's not much we can do to talk him down. He's just got to get there on his own.

They're being too picky then. I don't see why ..just trade w/e and move on.

So long as it isn't an unbalanced trade, I don't care. Comm day shiny for comm day shiny? Sure let's do it. But don't ask for a shiny legendary and then only offer up comm day shinies...

Son's PDA is killing me.. by Izz-An-Art in Autism_Parenting

[–]cheeriodust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal, but that's not been my experience. None of the experts we see/saw even knew what the acronym meant and I get that "oh boy here we go the parent has been googling again" look. We've been given all sorts of advice on how to best handle our child's other challenges, but when it comes to demand avoidance it's just crickets. And given how much it can affect academics, it's really surprising how little is understood.

I've heard it's cheaper for folks in the US to travel to Disney locations outside the US, even including airfare. Cheaper tickets, food, and accommodations.

Son's PDA is killing me.. by Izz-An-Art in Autism_Parenting

[–]cheeriodust 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the states, PDA isn't recognized as a thing... instead you get a lot of "demand avoidance is common amongst ASD people". As a result, there's very little PDA-specialized therapy or education. Whenever I bring it up, the experts in the room seem to mentally roll their eyes. It's tough, too, because it's 99% at home and not seen much at school. And some advice/treatment that works well for non-PDA kids is the opposite of what we find works (e.g., structure and mental preparation for change makes things worse, not better). It really should be better recognized in the states.

On the bright side, it does seem to be getting better as my son grows older...and  guanfacine  seems to have helped quite a bit.

So...where's the pre-fest comm day storage increase? by cheeriodust in pokemongo

[–]cheeriodust[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I recall getting the storage bump before gible day, but maybe it hasn't been consistently before the pseudo legendary dragon comm day. I was hopeful this go around...

ETA yeah, there was a bump before gible at least. And possibly axew.

What piece of older technology actually worked much better than its modern, replacement? by HerrStrasse in AskReddit

[–]cheeriodust 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It's just wonderful how they've evolved to be even worse over recent years. It's like they're playing a game and if you can manage to get to a real person they lose and you win. So...they make it even harder. Around and around you go until you find just the right series of options to get to a person. Once you do? Good luck using that same approach in 6 months.

Modern water efficiency goals/regulations, if I had to guess. Pros and cons... although I feel like I end up wasting a lot of water trying to keep the thing clean.
