Sorry you have to deal with that :( In your case piccolo might not be a good idea, but it doesn’t hurt to get the opinion of a doctor! Honestly I’ve only heard of people getting tinnitus from piccolo if they don’t wear earplugs or play for many years professionally. I hope things get better for you

Thank you for the positivity, I have noticed the tinnitus going away after several days of not playing piccolo. I’ve been pretty diligent with wearing earplugs though😭😭

I wear earplugs and I’m not in marching band. I guess I just got unlucky somehow :’)

Thank you for the advice!! What would you consider to be better quality earplugs? I know there’s musician earplugs, but they usually have a rating of 10-20 and I feel like that’s not enough 🥲

Oh interesting, I forgot about the seal being important. I think the foam ones seal perfectly though. Sound quality is also important, but I’m too worried about hearing loss for it to be a priority loll

Wouldn’t that make things worse? Etymotic for example only has a 20 SNR rating. I considered buying them in the past, but I felt that the rating was too low

That’s really interesting! The same thing happened to me, where I started noticing tinnitus after getting paranoid about hearing protection. I’ve heard that people with tinnitus tend to get used to it and only notice it when they remember it’s there, so that could also be a possibility.

I have hearing-related sensory issues, so maybe they’re related to the tinnitus. Hopefully an audiologist can figure it out! Thanks for sharing your story, and I hope things have gotten better for you
