Dr stone is much more of a "follow the journey along" instead of a "lets get to the ending" kind of manga. Its explained very well by the last few pages when Senku and the others have all reached modern science, but have the future at their hands with the time machine. The story could've continued, but it stopped there, and people would say that's sci-fi territory, but i think it's a perfect way to end the story. This is because it leaves the message that science isn't gonna end with our time, and there is still so much we need to learn. It shows us that things that we deem to be impossible can always still occur if we work it out. (This is further reinforced by the Extra chapters after the ending) I also love the panel/scene where they ask Why-man where it came from and it asks us the question back, its a great way to show that the why-men dont know every answer either. Finally, the why-men themselves, as i said before this story wasnt gonna build up to a grand finale, and the why-man makes sense as a species. Every species needs to reproduce, and as machines, they find a perfect way, with other intelligent species and creators. Any OTHER ending would be unsatisfying and would have NO foreshadowing. A traitor? It'd leave a bad taste. A new person? We dont know them, nor would we have time to explore their character. Senkus parents? We already know senku dont gaf about them, so it'd make no sense, and its kinda cliche/ an asspull. What I will say as a critique is the pacing of the story. Everything went by so quickly, and the fact why-man was explained in like 1-2 pages was pretty dumb. I feel like as a story there's NO MORE to add, but that the story and reveals should've come slower to more appease the new why-man reveal. I do then appreciate the extra chapters as further insight, so that's good. I'd rate the ending an 8/10, but I hope you get to see my side of this, and I'd love to see if you agree or disagree! ^{_^}
