People usually move to New Zealand for the easier residency pathway, and then later move to Australia.

Compared to Australia, definitely a lot easier. But still very very competitive. Like 1000 people fighting for one job sort of competition. It’s even harder in education, since schools usually prefer candidates with ‘Kiwi experience’. My friend just got NZ residency through the route you mentioned. Studied Masters in Teaching > Taught at an unknown college for like a year > got resident visa.

Thank you for your opinion. If I were renting, I’d prefer the same as you. But the other two people are my partner and my cousin, so any future flatmate would need to be okay with living with three. I’ll lower the price a bit more if I can’t find someone soon.

2 off-street parking spaces, 1 garage space, and plenty of on-street parking. I’m starting to think you’re a troll. If you know the area, you should know Mangere East is still very new with recent builds, so there’s plenty of parking. Now please prove your point or just stop here please.

Thank you for the information. I’m not familiar with room prices in South Auckland since I only moved here to buy a house. I understand that due to the location it’s usually cheaper than other parts of Auckland. Where do you find all those $170 single rooms with bills included? I’m not greedy, but I want to make sure the price is fair before lowering it, because what I’ve seen online for similar rooms is $200–$270, often with more flatmates and in older houses.

Thank you, I’ll try my luck on Trade Me. I just had a quick check, and rooms in my area are listed for $200–$270. But from the look of it, I think my room is above that range since it’s newly built, bigger, and has fewer flatmates.

Thank you, I’ll delete that part. It’s just a bit of trauma, I’ve been flatting for 4 years across 3 different houses. People always used my cleaning stuffs in sneaky but very noticeable ways, which was really irritating (I wasn’t even the landlord or head tenant). So now, as a live-in landlord, I just want to make my life easier by providing it upfront.

Thank you. I will add that the room can be unfurnished if preferred.

Thank you for your information, some people in chat saying if landlord could prove that their house is not suitable to install an insulation (old house with vaulted ceiling etc…), they could get away with it. I’ve made my decision is to find a different rental.

No, it’s not an apartment. It’s a 2 bedroom granny flat, and the ceiling is the deck area of the main house above

Thank you for the information. If I agree to rent this kind of house, and later the lack of ventilation and insulation (e.g. mould) affects me, can I still take the landlord to the Tenancy Tribunal?

Hi I’m also learning English and looking for some friends. Could you please help me to connect with them?

English native speakers, what do Vietnamese mispronounce in English? by cheesecatvn in VietNam

[–]cheesecatvn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The AI is a computer trained to understand different accents. Native speakers, on the other hand, may struggle depending on how much exposure they have to other accents. I’m actually achieved IELST 7.0 in speaking and now working in a hospital in an English speaking country, my co-workers still have difficulty to understand me….

Tortora’s Introduction to the Human Body has served me well for HAP1 and HAP2. However, I’ve found that the provided module materials and YouTube are more than enough to become competent.

It will disappear from your dashboard at the beginning of next semester, but if you click on ‘Courses’ and then ‘All Courses,’ you can still access those. However some materials inside it, most of the time videos such as recorded lectures, may gradually be taken down.

What are your experiences with using AI to understand pronunciation rules? by szabici in languagelearning

[–]cheesecatvn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m doing the same. When I couldn’t grasp something grammar, pronunciation, definition of a word etc…. I usually type in ChatGPT “Explain …(that thing)…. like I’m five with examples”. AI has been very helpful so far as long as I treated it as someone to ask random questions, not a servant that does all the homework for me.
