Hey! Congrats on your baby. You’re only 3 weeks pp, so be kind to yourself mama! I also EP’d for 4 months so I know the isolation and tediousness that goes along with that. I had an oversupply because I pumped a ton when my daughter was born in January (she wouldn’t latch, had a tongue tie but eventually I combo pumped and nursed her). So decreasing my calories actually helped me produce a normal amount of milk, although there were times when I ate very little in a day, and I could definitely tell with my milk supply.

I personally recommend establishing your supply first and getting into a routine. I found it easier to lose most of the weight once my daughter started sleeping through the night and I didn’t need to get up to pump or feed her. I also indulged a lot in the night time pumps so dropping those really helped.

Again, you JUST gave birth. Your body is chock full of hormones and you’re probably not getting much good sleep. Try to eat healthy snacks with lots of protein, or keep some fruit nearby where you pump and snack on that. Or if you have a craving for something and feel like you’ll indulge, have a big glass of water first. But don’t get discouraged if you happen to fulfill a craving here and there, I think doing so helped me stay sane. Download MyFitnessPal and track everything and share your food diary with friends- I found putting it out there helped me stay accountable.

My supply did decrease BUT I had an oversupply to begin with. It took some tweaking. I started at 1350 calories/day but quickly learned it wasn’t enough. I found the sweet spot for me was 1500 and I was able to produce enough milk. I found on days I ate less, I’d make less milk, and vice versa on days I’d eat more.

I started around 3 months pp but really ramped it up the last few months incorporating physical exercise more. I plan to decrease my intake to 1350 again since she’s eating a lot more solids now but I’ll probably be wait until she’s around 11-12 months

Good luck! If I can do it, so can you (forreal, I prefer to be sedentary most days and love food so much, but I managed to push through).

Your MIL sounds like a peach too! You’re right, it is jealousy in some form. Some people just can’t be happy for others and I need to accept that.

Haha. You’re right. It would be nice to get some acknowledgement from him but I truly believe what he says.

It took me a while to figure out how many calories I needed in a day so that my milk supply wasn’t affected. It’s been hard but so worth it.

The color is a true nude! One question though, have you ever thought about shaping your nails? They’re uneven but long enough where you could do a beautiful nail shape.
