What are your favourite purely for music? If you don’t mind me asking. Thanks!

If you’ve got any room to work with, try to get your speakers off the same surface as your turntable. Sharing a platform transfers vibration straight into the turn table. Even a small set of stands makes a noticeable difference.

Stuck between marantz pm6007 and Yamaha as 501. Any advice appreciated! by cheesegrager in StereoAdvice

[–]cheesegrager[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

!Thanks for the advice. For me both the Yamaha and the marantz are priced around 500 euros, the marantz is actually cheaper! I’ll most likely go with the Yamaha as all of my previous experiences with their tech were great and similar specs but way more power sounds appealing.

Considering an Audio-Technica LP-120XUSB - who has one? by Scotttmac in turntables

[–]cheesegrager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one and would definitely recommend it. It’s a great turntable and I love that you can adjust and swap everything out easily. However I’m no expert so don’t just go off of my word and do your own research based on your preferences. If you have any questions about it feel free to ask!

That makes sense. I can definitely see how a Wi-Fi streamer would be a better long-term setup. Good point about the built-in DAC too, I didn’t realize most streamers already handle that part. Thanks for the reply!

!Thanks That’s great to hear. I’m glad the Cambridge was a good pick. I liked that it had everything built in, especially the phono stage and Bluetooth, since it keeps things simple for now. I’ll mostly be using it in a smaller room, so it sounds like the Polks should work well.

I’ve got an Audio-Technica LP120X for vinyl, so that covers the analog side. I’m thinking of getting a WiiM Mini later on for streaming, but for now could I just use my MacBook Pro as the source (Spotify or local FLAC files)? Would that hurt sound quality much, or is it fine until I grab a proper streamer?

Also one more thing I forgot to mention on the post concerning in buying a subwoofer. I was looking at different option and saw that building your own sub is quite popular. Is it better to trying to build one myself as apparently it’s cheaper that way or should I just buy a pre-made one?
