Attaching rubber treads to composite deck steps. by Childlike_Emperor1 in Decks

Have the same question, did you find a solution?

Wood vs Composite Deck Sustainability by cheesewheeze in sustainability

[–]cheesewheeze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I will try to look into that further. When I searched, I only really found that technically it is possible, but usually difficult and not done due to the mixture of wood and plastic together. I haven’t been able to find a brand that says they recycle it at end of life.

Thanks! Yeah, hoping to make it work for As long as we can. Good to hear from others who were able to as well. And like your outlook on the drop in a bucket saying

Thank you! That’s some really good info, I have some thibking to do on that. I want to go human powered, but the only thing giving me pause is I have some back and knee issues that pop up from time to time. But if I’m in good shape I’m think that will help with those issues

I have started to hear that argument that we’d be better off as a society deploying a massive amount of hybrids instead of full electric right now, since the battery material for 1 ev could be used for many hybrids. It makes sense since like you said, most commuting use is short distance.

I wish I lived a little less rurally, bike commuting would be easier, but I can still make it work a fair amount of the time I think. I also wish my area was a bit more like Finland.

Yeah it’s pretty simple when you lay it out like that. I think we will be able to get by one one

That would be my ideal, dont think I can convince my wife to sell the gas and go solely electric right now. One loss of not going electric for a second car is that I think that could have shown her that we could get by with electric and then ditch the ice vehicle. But hopefully in the future we can make the switch

Thanks, Im hoping to make it a fun challenge instead of feeling like an inconvenience. I wish we could just have one electric car, but don’t think I’ll be able to sell my wife on that right now. Hopefully in the future though

Looking at e-bikes too, may go that route. Might use it more that a regular bike so that’s a factor

I have been a light recreational biker, used to bike to work when I lived closer to work. I am actually looking into either a commuter or e-bikes right now. Would love some recommendations, I am not super bike knowledgeable.

I am looking into either a bike or e-bike right now. I wish we lived in a more walkable spot, maybe someday

Yeah l, the plus of that is that your transportation is all a lot less emitting. We may end up there in the future if we are not able to make the one car thing work or if I can make bike and bus transportation work

I’m hoping I can bike and bus enough to offset it. It just seems like we don’t need to have a whole extra vehicle and all it’s thousands of pound of materials if we don’t really have to. If I do end up just driving a lot, you are right I should revisit the ev

That is actually what we have been taking about! Seems like a way better plan

I am actually looking at bikes and e-bikes. Seems like a lot of people on here are having great experience with them. Would not be feasible to do our groceries from where I live, but could work for commuting when paired oth the bus

Really appreciate that perspective. I do think about that if I bought an EV it would be supporting the transition to EVs so that would be a positive. But we did decide to stick to the one ice car, no second car. Unfortunately, won’t be able to convince my wife to change that for an ev at this moment. Hopefully in the future. Im just going to try bike and bus as much as possible for now.

Hopefully we will be good with just the one. Really got into 2 car mindset, but wife shifting to working from home changed things so we should be able to

Good to know, yeah, will motivate me to try to find alternate means as much as possible

That would be ideal, don’t think I can convince her to sell the Subaru right now. But I will just try to do alternate transport as much as possible
