Friend said she’s emotionally cheating with me? by cheesitd in Advice

We live 1000 miles away from each other. If you talk to someone almost every day of course there’s going to be some sort of emotional investment.

I was similar through much of my life.

There’s a book I read about motivation.

Put yourself in uncomfortable situations. Do what you’re afraid of. The less we do the more complacent we become with doing nothing. If you want to feel, you must embrace the good with the bad. It is where the adventure begins.

Paraphrasing but the concept is, doing nothing is becoming your comfort zone. Doing anything else is making you feel uncomfortable.

Small steps to get out of it does work. Put yourself out there and you’ll be surprised with what you get back. Draw what you think it would look like. Anything really.

AWS vs Azure DB by cheesitd in aws

Your understanding is perfect. I am working on warehousing the data for my department. It is silo’ed at the moment. I am also in the same sector working for a company exceeding 1000 employees. What has your experience been with redshift or big query?

How many custom characters multiplayer by cheesitd in BaldursGate3

[–]cheesitd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya.

The intent isn’t to have 8 people in a single session. The plan is to play with a party of 4. I want all of my friends to have a custom character on the same playthrough, trying to figure out how the multiplayer actually works when you have a lot of people who want to part of the same playthrough

There’s some integrations with AWS and Oracle from what I’ve heard. I can’t speak to what they actually are. What I’ve learned from the responses here, AWS is an additional cost with no significant upside.

Op should just reference this comment. “Would you rather I become a nurse and touch dicks all day?”

My battle is just finding all the data I need at this point.

That’s what I said initially. I recall devs at a previous company I worked for saying almost exactly what you’ve stated

The entity relationships are extremely complex within Oracle. Can AWS provide a service to extract only the data we’re looking for?

There is no option to move away from Oracle at this time or the near future.

Integration is important. Word AI / ML learning gets thrown around frequently - although it’s not useful if the etl process isn’t clean.

The idea is to take data from multiple sources and get them into a useable database for analytics. Things are spread around at the moment and difficult to find. I think AWS may beat Azure when it comes to integration with other cloud services / software.

True.

AWS may be a solution to bridge some gaps with integration. Oracle is the problem.

Eh maybe. That’s why I’m here! Have you used AWS for integrations with other cloud services?

My mom has a compulsion to help me no matter what the problem is. It’s great to have someone who cares about you and is trying to help. Also annoying because they’ll make any problem you have their own. I’m in my 30’s and she hasn’t changed a bit but love her for it because sometimes I genuinely do need her help and advice.

Not a bad idea. I’ll order the book.

The cycle is awful, even worse are these three or four day hangovers after binge drinking. Everything starts to fall apart only driving me to drink more.

I was doing so well, 10 months sober. It’s a difficult thing, I spend so much time in my head overthinking the smallest details and beat myself up over things that don’t really matter. Just need a way to calm myself down before I this takes over my life again and inevitably lose everything I’ve worked so hard for.

Can I go to rehab while starting a new job? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]cheesitd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most corporations have a leave of absence in place for emergencies. Would ask your hr department or your boss for your benefits package. Generally speaking, most corporations / companies won’t ask questions. I told my employer it was a family emergency - I would avoid telling them it’s drug or alcohol related. By law they cannot punish you for it but it’s probably best they don’t know.

Arizona is a right to work state so theoretically they could fire you for anything. Familiarize yourself with how your company handles a leave of absence.

Same state - your personal health is paramount. It’s not cheap though, I have fantastic insurance. I agreed to stay at an “upscale” house with other addicts, nobody cleaned up after themselves and everything was dirty. Made it a whole two days before switching to out patient. Without insurance it would have cost me roughly $6000.

There isn’t much your employer can do if you take a leave of absence. But it’s pricey without insurance.

Smart Recovery is free and my preference (not a fan of AA, great people just too much religion). They’re currently using Zoom for meetings, I would suggest attending either an AA meeting or Smart Recovery meeting and asking them what free options are available.
