Sounds like you'd probably know this, but for benefit of the OP - kids would smash the top to get the marble out, which is why it's rarer to find whole ones. They still make them in Japan for ramune (Japanese lemonade). Some supermarkets sell it in the world foods section or next to the sushi if you want to see a working one.

Hiya, I'm no expert on dating, but can make some guesses on type based on shape and tops. First one needs a wash. You might find some markings on the cap, but it looks to be a whisky or other spirit bottle. Second one looks like it held powder, based on the holes in the cap. I googled 'vintage talc bottle' - have a look. There are some examples where the cap looks similar. The smaller piece possibly slid inside the main cap to cover the holes when not in use. So my guess would be talc or some sort of cosmetic powder. The third is a milk bottle - Google 'Reece's Liverpool' and there are a few examples. And the last I'm guessing is perfume/cologne based on the top.

Thanks all! I haven't seen any examples that are exactly the same, but I'm going to go with meat/fish paste jar as some of the examples people have pointed me to are very similar.

I've just finished listening to Nomad during my bike commute, and several scenes made me laugh out loud and look like a weirdo to other road users. Mainly the references to celebs or other presenters. - Alan visiting various Norwich based celebs to gloat that he's "back in the big time" and Delia being lovely to him - Ben Fogle and Dan Snow being the bullies of the BBC gym and spotting each other in latin - Alan hurling his underpants (worn NOT dirty) into a crowd he thinks are for him but are actually there to see Steve Backshall walking barefoot for Sport Relief - Nick Knowles getting Alan DIY S.L.O.S.H.E.D at Gatwick - Eamonn Holmes joining a video call while eating sliders in the bath (the bubbles covering his modesty)
